New Ford Figo (2nd Generation)

Guys don't forget the 2nd Gen launched in Dec already...I seen more 'Stangs (also launched in Dec) than 2nd Gen Figos!

Must be a CT thing lol. I saw a few 1st gen Figos when I was in the Durban/Toti area over Easter, and 95% of them had GP number plates. In PTA I see a lot.

Seen a handful of Gen 2 Figo's. Like I said earlier in the thread, though, the Ford Credit Fiesta Ambiente deal brings a Fiesta for Figo money and the deal is still running, albeit for R189k now, but you do get that marvellous 1 litre ecoboost turbo as part of the deal.

I am convinced this Fiesta deal is stealing Figo sales.

That makes sense! Come to think of it, there are countless Fiesta Ambientes on the road, I see more of those than I do even 1st gen Figos.

At the end of the day Ford are getting the sales, so I guess they don't mind.

I'm sure they sold a ton of 1st and 2nd gen Figos to the rental car industry anyway.

Coming back to what I said here, July sales volumes of Fiesta back up my theory - 1000 more Fiesta's sold in July than any previous month. Ford Credit Ambiente deal struck gold.....

Quote: Unsurprisingly, in July 2016, the Volkswagen Polo Vivo remained at the summit of the table. But, rather interestingly, the Ford Fiesta beat the regular Polo for second place this time, selling a whopping 1 740 units (an increase of a more than 1 000 units over its June performance).

The Figo 1.5 TDCi Ambiente sells for R193 900 and comes backed with a 4-year/120 000 km warranty and 2-year/40 000 km service plan. Service intervals are nicely spaced at 20 000 km.

Not enough fuel saving over the Ambiente petrol to justify an extra R24k on the sticker price........ Only the torque shove is an advantage but not R24k...

It actually amazes me how many mom's drive a diesel Ecosport instead of a petrol. If you are not doing big mileage, as these school transporters are not, there is no sense in spending more for a diesel engine which is MUCH more expensive to repair if something goes wrong out of warranty.

Latest Ford Figo crash tested: from zero stars to …?

Back in 2014, when Global NCAP subjected the previous generation Ford Figo to crash-testing, it failed to score a single star for adult occupancy. But now the safety authority has evaluated the latest Figo in India, and it fared quite a bit better.

In its latest tests, Global NCAP used the sedan version of the Figo, which is badged “Aspire” in India, where it is fitted with two airbags as standard. It managed to score three stars for adult occupant protection and two stars for child protection.

While two (Ambiente and Trend) of the three Figo sedan models offered in South Africa also feature just a pair of airbags (the range-topping Titanium in SA adds four more), they do at least boast ABS, something that the Indian version is missing. The Figo in India also does without seatbelt pretensioners.

The crash-test report rated the protection offered to the driver and passenger’s heads and necks as “good” thanks to the presence of the airbags. However, the bodyshell was rated as “unstable”, with the Global NCAP report stating that it “was not capable of withstanding any further loadings”.
