This is good news! Can't wait to see what a cricket match will look like on this puppy. Or watching the New Zealand haka.

wtf?! I'm a bit out of the loop on the HD offering. Surely there cant only be ONE HD channel at the moment?

Who in their right mind would buy a HD PVR and additional subscription costs?

Am I missing something here? Excuse my ignorance....

excessive bandwidth requirements of 1080i and 1080p broadcasting

This is incorrect. 1080i is also not full hd and uses a similar amount of bandwidth as 720p.

Same as the SD PVR (except if you want dual-view) and since you can't get the SD PVR anywhere, one has to get the HD PVR instead.

cause you can extraview for dual view, and its the only PVR they have on offer these days.

This is fantastic news! We finally have a date. It is well known that sport is the killer app for HD and I think Supersport will benefit in a big way.

Now to get my HD-PVR ....

There is nothing that is cooler than inviting your mates over for a braai for the rugby and telling them "I have it in HD". :)

Multichoice is broadcasting 1080i since they've launched HD. They have not yet switched to 720p.

I now have a reason to get HD PVR before the start of the Football showpiece next year, but then again, can't imagine myself watching the world cup at home. I hope they'll broadcast PSL on HD as well.

It works, but it's not great. I don't have any more major issues, but sometimes it's not responsive enough, and cue functionality (forward and reverse) is dodgy - but still works.

So with these dicey controls, how is this thing going to work over a remote from another part of the house ?

They have already shown a few PSL games in HD

Makes no difference, I operate mine from the room often

Oh happy days...

A dedicated sports channel changes things somewhat.. I might actually start looking at integrating DSTV into my mediacenter now...

Woot!

Hopefully now I'll get to see proper live FA premier league matches, not the minnow teams they often show :D

So the first HD channel was compressed down from 12Mbs to 10Mbs and now the second one will be from 10Mbs to 8???

*** EDIT
and don't tell me you can't notice it - because I can

Just have a look at the Olympics and the Tour de France pics on MyBB from earlier in the year
