Yip, I think it's awesome step forward, I'm looking forward to my extra GBs (actually looking into upping my package too, that 8GB is far to tempting!) :D

Just one question: When is this all taking effect?

That might get me excited ... ETA on this ?
Will it be a stand alone product or bolt on product.
Maybe both with the bolt on obviously being a bit cheaper than the stand alone ?

Soon, need to finish of some back-end development.

It will be a nice VAS for those who do bulk file transfers in the background. ;)

No option for stand alone product ?
eg internet connection only active after 7pm week days until 7am and then the whole weekend?
 
This is a very good move Jannie, I welcome this with open arms, next stop will be unbundling of iBurst as well...
 
This is a vastly improved pricing model. Well done, Jannie and team.

Looks like I'm going to be a client much longer than I thought I would.

I'm one of the users who simply love my 1GB + 64k unlimited afterwards. My budget is fixed - no risk of a runaway process (read virus!) and associated budget destructive risks! Usually I run out of fast cap around the 25th of a month.

Under the new regime, my budget won't be fixed anymore.

As for OOB notification by web page: It would only work when people are using iBurst in a single workstation environment. I'm using iBurst in a wife-and-me sharing the connection via a wifi router + in house server. I guess the server will usually choke on the OOB notice doing automatic updates :(

Notification by e-mail/SMS in good time is essential - but at the moment the e-mail bandwidth notification system is broken - it is impossible to change the destination address on the web.
 
Well done iburst, those who waited will be quite happy with what they got.

Good to know iburst has a future, and a bright one at that.
 
So there are no prepaid changes then? I was hoping there would be. I am looking to give Vodacom HSDPA the boot because I am tired of paying R389 for 2 gigs a month and then having to pay R289 for the extra gig I always end up using...

Please change the prepaid prices iBurst. There is a customer here waiting to join up! :)
 
My first response was "I'm losing my throttle!" - but after reading Jannie's responses, I'm not so sure I'll need it. If I do, it'll be twice a year or so (when the major distros update). Jannie, what are the chances of iBurst hosting their own mirror for popular linux distibutions, for example? That's really the only thing that kills my allotted bandwidth (I'm on 3G)...

i think its a ripoff too. people are just so delighted that they are not paying what they use to. Its like alota house mommies running off to a Truworths sale.

Not much point in doing that. iBurst is directly connected to JINX and mirror.ac.za is one hop away from JINX on a 10Gbps fibre.
