New LTE AUP from September 2016

I still cannot see this in the "fine print". The website still states: " uncapped wireless broadband is really uncapped for almost all applications and uses. These include email, browsing, streaming traffic like..... For these you will never be capped or throttled" . Nowhere does it state anything about a figure you are allowed to stream. The TCs doc also states "....shall be offered at full speeds for all traffic types except bandwidth intensive protocols". Thus to do all of what has been suggested. They have to change the fup/aup

The annoying part they do state is that there is a AUP and they will implement it if you abuse the service which they could deep after 100Gb you are abusing it ?

I think imho they are actually now going to actively monitor traffic especially on torrents and nntp traffic. As the TCs state, they can suspend your service if they feel you are abusing it. So if you use it for "normal internet behavior" as well as streaming. It should be fine. As they stated, it was designed for streaming. The TCs also states that they can suspend your service if you use broadband intensive protocols during peak time periods. So I think they will actively police this product

EDIT: And as someone on the forum confirmed, the SMS was intended to go to everyone

Well I hope that they stop these seedbox websites in my view they should be blocked between 6am till 12pm at night so that it will stop people from using them as that's probably the main reason why telkom is getting unhappy now as people are abusing it

That's impossible. Seedboxes arent the problem. Even if telkom somehow blocked seedboxes people will find a way around the aup.

The problem here is Telkom touting this product as Uncapped and great for streaming. Now they're changing their story. I only stream and use between 300gb and 400gb. I don't see that as abuse, it's normal.

well i hope they just stop the excessive downloading during the day from 12am till 6am they should let you do what you want with the 50Gb as thats already your play play data, but it will be pretty annoying if they start capping people on this uncapped* offer. To that fact even telkom call this package on the site unlimited broadband plus on the front page int he first box, we all know the difference between unlimited and uncapped so i hope that bites them in terms of advertising.

I went into Telkom mobile store at lakeside Benoni to sign up for a contract. I've been testing on pre paid for for a month. Get about 30 to 40 mbs down with the highest I've got of 70 Mbs in 1 speed test. I was going to sign up for uncapped which was available until the agent told me that uncapped will be throttled. She told me for every 10 gbs you use, the speed will be throttled by 10 Mbs starting at 150 Mbs. I went with the smart wireless 100 gb with the entertainment VAS bolt on instead. More expensive but could get it on month to month with no throttling

I understand that with this LTE you can potentially get 150mbps which the max i have seen being 101mbps i think, they do however state on their website

"You can expect up to a maximum of 90Mbps download speeds and up to a maximum of 25Mbps upload speeds* on Telkom’s LTE network.

That means enhanced gaming, video streaming and music and app downloads" 90mbps is their value there. i just hope someone here is a lawyer and has a field day with them over this...

Did you not get the message about AUP ? i got the AUP but never got a usage sms and my usage has been about 200gb so far this month, with 0 being p2p dont do that

Just spoke to the guys at the TELKOM shop at the TELKOM campus. According to them they have not been informed of anything regarding the LTE uncapped changes or aup changes. They are aware of the SMS but have not heard anything else

I signed a contract with Telkom that says they will not throttle normal traffic, only P2P and other high bandwidth protocol.
They cannot one-sidedly change my contract.

The fup states it as torrents, p2p and nntp
I know but yet they refer to high bandwidth protocol implying other than torrents one gets high bandwidth protocols. Surely streaming youtube etc not incl.

Someone's going to sue them if they start implementing that.
