Hi,

I've just bought a new Macbook Pro from the iStore.
It doesn't have Snow Leopard installed, nor did they give me a DVD copy.
Is this normal? I thought all new macs came with SL.
Please give your opinions and/or advice.

Thanks.

It should come with Snow Leopard. Phone them for a copy so you can upgrade or maybe just take your mac in. Luckily only takes like 30-45 min.

Welcome to the Core Experience courtesy of Dick Van Spaandork.

Please check to see if your "new" MBP has an SD card slot or if you have just bought the last generation model and they didn't bother to tell you that it is old stock built a year ago.

You did get iLife 09 right?

Let us know if they try and charge you any money to upgrade - its supposed to be free.

But hey, if you root around in the box, maybe you'll find a "complimentary" box of Namakwa wine.

i must also get a copy of SL but from the website using the upgrade programme. I think it's like R80. I may have bought our mac just before the launch. not sure of the official launch date. anyway i may get SL but there have been some issues with it right? so I thought we will just wait a little and install it in a few months. I think I might be a loser!

Only issue I've had with 10.6.1 has been with the Neogo driver installer. I put it down to a lousy modem driver from Neotel.

had a couple of issues... one with mail and imap with gmail... also had to install rosetta. Acrobat doesn't have a 64 bit version, so had to run safari in 32 bit to do efiling... a few small nigily things (all third party) that i hope get sorted out and integrated into this awesome OS.

Waldo, come tell us which store screwed you, so other people dont get shafted :)

just spoke to incredible and they dont want to upgrade the OS as they say yoi have to pay for it.

Spoke to Digicape and i will have to go the $9.95 upgrade offer.

Not happy about that but dont seem to be getting anywhere with anyone else....

Acydebyte i think you need to speak to a manager at incredible, cos as far as i know they claim to be authorized resellers. I would really escalate this, i know 10 dollar upgrade might not be much, they are taking advantage :\ It is up to them to make sure the end user gets what they are paying for, and with a mac you really are paying :\

Phoned the iStore to find out if they had stock of the MBP and does it come with SL. Their reply was that we will have to see if we open the box!

Which istore was this? NAME AND SHAME!!!

The okes at melrose arch seemed pretty jacked and also had quite a laugh when they saw the computer say it would cost 10 000 rand for 8 gigs of ram. Oke even told me to check if he was reading correctly.

I am sure they should know if they are shipping with SL. When i picked up my copy they were busy upgrading one of the machines at their counter, and said they would be loading it on all their instore systems. Maybe they will know ?
