Out of almost 100 000 users... half a dozen complained about it... yeah... I suppose in Apacheland that equals "most people here on mybb" :D Love the strange world you live in.

Its a sampling :D. That's what stats are based on.

Again I have no problem with Mandela's face on the notes, but only if it was done on or after his passing. Not the way its done now as this is a political move and opens up the system for abuse.

How on earth... would it make a difference if the guy is dead or near dead? What...... Mandela ganna get on his walker and all of a sudden attack all the whities or something? In my mind... I cant see how him being alive (as he is now), or him being dead would make ANY differences to "abuse".

Really now people....

The moment another party gets voted in or hell even someone with a chip in his shoulder it will be the 1st thing they will change. Mark my words.
We were speaking at the DA meetings this weekend about it (and the DA are the next party to take power)... and not one DA person I spoke to was against it, in fact most of the DA groups congratulated President Mandela. His orsmness is bipartisan. While the DA might change some of the names of places, I can guarantee they will not remove Mandela from the notes.

I don't have a problem with Mandela's face on the banknote, but it should've just been for one denomination, possibly the R200 note seeing as there have been lots of fakes going around in the past. To use his face on everyone is a bit excessive.

Can you name any country that is not a Monarchy or dictatorship that depict a single live person across all their notes?

Not specifically all democratic but a quick wiki reveals the following countries with living people on bank notes:

Canada, Jersey, New Zealand, Phillipines, Scotland (briefly even having Jack Nicklaus and are still in circulation), Belgium, Luxembourg

There could be more but I didn't thoroughly bother going through the entire list.

You gush too much. He is an ANC member.

what "turning point"? you mean "down turn", right?

Nah I think he is referring to the part when we were all granted the right to vote , not just the minority. The part where I could have the choice if I want to visit a certain public beach. Small things like that.

He is part or seen as part of the ANC, it has nothing to do about bombing, I thought we left that crap behind already?

Counting your chickens before they hatch I see? I dont see them winning anytime soon also not with a landslide. Anyway I guess if we entered a dictatorship they would not give a dam anyway so will change it regardless.

I said a single person across all the notes, and not part of a monarchy, all of the above fail in that check alone so you failed.

Anyway I guess in my mind it would have been better if we did it as a gesture of respect when he passed ie: We already doing everything while he is alive there will be almost nothing left to honor the man when he passes.

Speak for yourself, please. :)

What part ? The sad life or my view that Nelson Mandela is the greatest South African dead or alive cos firstly I on the Madiba matter I speak for Billions , probably 99,98% of the world that knows about him holds him in that regard. Then Secondly , if you feel different about it and is unable to see the true greatness of the man then living in the era and time must be very sad cos everywhere around you people worship the great man. So jaa sad.

Nothing like bringing up Mandela to reveal old ANC fanboys.

It's always amusing listening to suburban whites desperately trying to disassociate Mandela from the ANC and proclaiming he represents their values.

I personally would have preferred this pic on the notes.

Everyone's free to choose who they want to hold in high regard or worship. I'm simply asking that you don't assume that we should all follow your suit though.

Spare your pity for someone who cares. ;)

Now that WOULD be a blatant publicity stunt.

I dont assume anything , I said 99.98% , you must belong to the 0.02% then.

U assume its pity , actually I am laffing inside....

Yeah.. rock solid reasoning there man... totally blown away.

2020 they`ll be 50/50 with the anc and no, not counting chickens before they hatch. I saw these forecasts before the last municipal elections and the DA did better in the municipal elections than their forecasts predicted.

*pssst* the DA have won an entire province already... and already changed the names of one or two places :p

Anyway I guess if we entered a dictatorship they would not give a dam anyway so will change it regardless.

Very childish statement.

Not to argue with your assumptions but 2020 is only 2 general elections away. That would require the DA to double its electorate in under 10 years!!! I doubt that it would be so soon. Add another 20 years to that estimate and I might just believe you.

Meh, I didn't read the part about someone across all the notes but its pretty unusual for any country to have a similiar picture on all their notes. A few of those countries are democratic though, so to the monarchy point I don't understand, I mean one of the people for the currency of Scotland is a golfer.

He is in his final years living, so I think they want to do stuff visually for him, instead of retrospectively saying we wish he could've seen it, at least thats why I think most people have tributes for him now instead of waiting till he passes.

It would take a miracle for the DA to get to even terms by 2020, its more likely that they may reach 30%. They have been growing steadily but not quickly enough and inroads into more and more of the public will get harder. They have also failed to expand at a sufficient growth in many provinces like KZN. Political forecasts are just random guesses at best, they predicted that COPE would increase market share, which it didnt and they never thought that the NFP(I think, the splinter group off IFP) would win any wards.

I pray for the day when we have an equallly fought election but don't think it will be anytime soon.

I wish you could see the growth I see. Even Winnie Mandela `s nephew has joined the DA :D There is such a strong youth movement and with Zuma and Malema destroying the ANC... things are going great. Service delivery talks, and as people in ANC municipalities see the DA doing a better job.. its going to snow ball. Heck, even my municipality (Buffalo City in the EC), is forecast to become a DA municipality in 2024. I know its hard for some people to see this, but its happening.
