Just saw these notes today... furk they look crap. More and more like a banana republic every day.
 
I was recently asked by a foreigner why our money has animals instead of people like most of the rest of the world.

A watermark formed within the paper - When held up to the light, the image is visible and will not produce on colour copiers;

it is not. the paper quality is very bad when you compare with the new "animals" note. your fingers should feel the rough surface, not smooth. the new "madiba" note is very smooth. the smooth surface is more easier to manufacture. => it is easier to be fake.


The latest design features and technologies are constantly monitored and applied where applicable.
Hold our banknote up to direct light and you will see its safety features.
except the watermark, nothing I can see.
=> failure.

missing: Iridescent band.

it is the most security feature for the new "animals"notes. it is very difficult to duplicate. (obviously it is costly ;) ) and that is the reason why you are hardly to hear the fake new "animals"notes in the market.

Edit: when you compare with the old "animals" notes, those security features are almost the same. that is the reason why I predict that will be more and more fake notes in the market very soon.

And now we still don't have people. Rather one peep. Still, I'll rather have Mandela on it, than Steve Biko.
 
To the current 81 voters (and future voters) who think it is cool, might I remind you that this could cause a trend and likely, next year Mbeki and the year after Zuma's faces might feature on the bank notes. Any feelings on seeing Zuma's face on the notes? On toilet paper maybe, but one notes??????
 
I like it and I'm sure the vast majority of South Africans have no problem with it.
 
Well if we had a poll between DA and ANC on here I doubt anyone here would vote ANC.

MyBB opinion unfortunately/fortunately doesn't represent the average South African.

What is that? At first I thought you were talking about the metallic strip, but the new notes have it. Since you seem to be in the know, where do these new notes come from? The SA Note Company, or are they using that Swedish company again?
