If the price is right then two months isn't old even if they ran it 24x7. It will still have a warranty. Question is if they flashed a different BIOS and if you can restore it?

Well the warranty thing is a question. One of the guys on Carb said he bought his cards off Amazon. That's useless to me, because there would be no local supplier backing up the warranty, would there?

Will check out GTX. So far only looked at Wootware and Rebeltech, but considering GTX and myself both bought our cars are the same time (and he bought his one inspired by my thread) I think he owes me one :D
 
Been looking at different GTX1060s from different manufacturers. There are some quite striking differences in design, so maybe the decision comes down to an aesthetic one.

Meh, I'd love to, but I'm ultra disappointed by PotterH. After he was sold on here as the Second Coming of Baby Jeebers, today just wasn't a good day for him clearly. No real reply all day to two PMs, or whatsapp messages. Weirdly enough he did respond after a few hours to a question in my whatsapp to him asking him to reserve one of those CPUs, by cryptically saying "Hi". Then he fell silent and ignored my next few messages again (going unread for a few hours and now still being quiet even though the messages are showing as read). *shrugs* Back to the drawing board on the CPU it seems, I don't reckon I can deal with somebody like that.

So that leaves us with no CPU just yet and no GPU, lol. It seems I'm going to have unexpected budget for a REALLY fancy case and LED light setup.

Seriously. Rather buy new. Sounds like you are going to get ripped off. There is no way I would deal with someone from your description above.

I think I'm going to scale way back and go new instead, because this is more aggravation than it's worth.
 
Not a terrible idea. You could also always upgrade later if you get an interim solution for CPU etc. I mean I have an i5-2500k and cs go gets up to 300fps on some maps (1080p) on a 970.

Yeah dude, I'll prolly just give it another couple of weeks to see what breaks in the interim. Maybe PotterH will respond. Once I get a CPU I'll be incentivised to get the rest of the machine lol.

Yes, for pure gaming. But I need to make my wife happy too, and she needs a decent CPU and heaps of RAM for Illustrator design work.

So a new i5-7600K costs R3 879, while a new i7-6700 costs R5 000. That makes PotterH's special pretty good. Who cares if his service levels suck, so long as the CPU is genuine? The money I save by going with him on this (rather than buying a weaker CPU somewhere else AND pay more), I can invest into a better graphics card.

I'm even wondering if it's worthwhile getting a card imported by Scottulus. Seems they're cheaper overseas than they are here in SA.
 
Hey, PotterH sent me a WhatsApp on his old number saying that phone is broken, and he gave me his new number. Messaged him on that too, so let's see if it works out this time :) Maybe I'd just been given bad info upfront. Will report back.
