Well you're safe these are only rumors. I still don't understand why people moan about getting more bandwidth for less money?

They could only want the 64kb after cap, so they don't care about the few gigs extra. It's not bad, but they would rather get the same gigs for less.

So what exactly is the "migration fee" involved with downgrading to a similar but lower priced package?

iBurst might let you move from 3.5 to 3GB for free, it is basically the same thing. Give them **** if they don't, get MyADSL to write an article etc, it made them back down in the past.

because with iburst's track record... they're not all that good at giving people more bandwidth for less money... but amazingly good at giving us less bandwidth for the same / more money...

Well it's all rumored speculation at this point. I enquired about the price decrease and how it will affect my package only to receive the same cookie-cut reply everyone has received.

Even if it was true, I don't see any reason in why those on the Pro tier would lose that 64kb softcap.

When is this? I've had my fights with their useless debtors/accounts department but they have improved considerably, my monthly iBurst debit has gone from the most random to one of the most constant.

This is what I've been saying... not everybody is getting 'more bw for less munny'... u get cheaper per Mb price, on the new packages, but like ambo says, u can only go to a higher value package, not lower, so u gotta pay more, even tho u then get more. So not less munny pm
We signed up orig for 3Gb package, then it became 3.5Gb, too much for the user, so he looses the remainder each month, since roll over is not indefinate. Now, we can get even more megs, on the 5Gb package similar price. But it means nothing since even more megs will be lost.
I would rather want to spend less, i.e go back (down) to the (quite sufficient) 3Gb package, and pay less pm.
But that is not allowed.
So there is not a lower spend pm on the nu packages, just a reduction in R/Mb.
It doesn't seem logical to unsubscribe to iBurst 3Gb (3.5Gb) contract and then join again as new user to the lower package, but it seems to be the only way :confused:
iBurst accounts people are confused enough already, why not allow downgrades too, than create a situation where u gotta terminate contract (already beyond 24months), and rejoin?
Guess its wait & see until the changes are official and in action.

Yeah the fee thing does sound a bit BS. Does anyone know if you are currently charged a fee to downgrade? Is it upgrading or downgrading line speed on ADSL that you're charged a fee?

Termination of iburst contracts is something you don't even want to attempt to consider...

I'm moving to Randfontein in october or so and thusfar iBurst has no plans to cover that area.... so from october this year until august next year i will be paying for an iburst i can't use...

Why? because the only way to get out of an iburst contract is to pay the entire outstanding amount up front.... and at R700/month, that works our rather pricy...

so pls... forgive me for feeling a little "screwed"...

Yeah, a harsh lesson in reading the contract terms & conditions. :( Month-to-month ftw.

Well not really, try to cancel that month-to-month. Secondly if you succeed in canceling it you will have to change your bank account as well. iBurst might simply start debiting your account again one year from now and call it a computer error.

Well I'll probably be canceling once the phone line is installed (whenever that is going to be, 6 weeks and counting now). I'll be sure to send my bank the confirmation of the subscription being canceled to ensure they don't take any money from me. Works quite well.

I got mine prepaid, if I don't pay I'm not connected. I won't let them idiots touch my hard earned money :)

Cancelling month to month was easy enough for me, one phone call and the fax. My username is off their system from this month. :D (Well, I can't log in using it at least)

Will have to see about the billing. :(

What I find more surprising is that CeeBee seems to have problems finishing 3GB

If you are in the Cape Town area I might be able to speed up your installation?

hehe, if it was my connection I would easily use the 3Gb, but this connection is for 1 of our directors, at home, and they generally only use 2-3Gbs. It really irks me to get the usage reports each day, and each month end see more megs going down the drain.
I would much rather go to the cheaper, sufficient, 3Gb package, and save the munny on my IT budget....
Perhaps I should get an iBurst modem, and use his settings to connect from my home, relieve him of excess megs :D
Is it possible to connect from 2 modems with the same login settings?

it was a tongue in cheek comment but what you say makes sense

You can use 2 modems on one account. This has been (and is currently being) done by a number of people. You merely need iBurst to link ze account to both modems.

hmmmm..... this opens up some possibilities, ... if its not a loophole due to be plugged soon...
Then I can even get a bigger package, lower cost/Mb, and share the account, make proper use of the Mbs paid for :)
How willing is iBurst to do this, or is it a 'normal' thing, as u say it is being done already?
