I was going for the 8700G initially, but saw that CPU was cheaper and had the 3D cache so figuree it would be ok for a while until I get a 7 series X3D chip.

Yeah it was between the 14400 and 8700f for me, 14400 was on special even with the slight performance difference, it was a super easy choice in the end. Got the kit for 7.4k. Manage to squeeze in 480 SSD and 144hz 24 inch screen and PSU for just over 10k.

8700f makes sense for some casual light gaming, but anything more than that it will start to struggle a bit.

Not the least bit disappointed those extra 4 e-cores makes a world of difference, did have to make some performance sacrifices.

But I am hoping late next year I am able to pick up a secondhand 14700k for around 4k ish, it was always the idea. 14400 was just to get on the platform as I pretty much had to get everything new.

But honestly I would listen to lupus and go for the 9700x and if you willing 9900x, if you get that you wouldn't have any reason to upgrade to the last am5 chip and would likely be could enough till at least the first am6 chip. Would give you enough time to save up for DDR6 platform upgrade with AM6 as it is going to be shyte exspensive.
 
Sigh in other news still don't have my HDDs useless partserv...... :( I have no tracking details, useless bunch. Just playing the waiting game now, heading to bloem on Friday, will make a visit to their office and chew them out in person.

Yeah was looking at some 2nd hand Ripjaws as well, I don't mind dropping to 3600C18 if I can find 2x matching 16GB modules, then I may as well sell the 3600C16 8GB modules that I have although I do like the aesthetic of the TridentZ NEO's.

The prices for some of the components I am looking at getting are better than wootware and I might as well get the components for the best prices and assemble it myself.

Useless Mofos, still no delivery. Yeah people don't realize how good they have it with guys like courier guy.

Bex express hellopeter reads like a horror story, I pretty much expect these drive to arrive DOA at this rate.

Took me 3 days to drag the info out of partserv. It shipped last week Thursday, so tomorrow a week. Yeah that isn't funny anymore I am not home on friday, have shyte to do. Phoning their head office tomorrow early and having some choice words with them. If they don't deliver tomorrow, I am not taking delivery when ever, it's HDD's that traveled god knows where on our shitty roads here. Have zero idea how well partserv packaged them either.

Partserv is going to be a mission to get a refund. How difficult is to realize you have a shitty logistics partner and get someone else. It boggles my mind how places like this stay in business.
 
Mofos decided to come deliver at 21:00pm....fine by me.

Bit of a mix bag one decent drive and the other well used, not terrible but could be better, for the price, could be worse. Power on hours is to be expected for enterprise drive, the issue is 01 and 07 of the smart attributes which is showing some degradation, but otherwise the drive health is actually great. If I can get two more drives like the second one I will be happy. Will either way start saving up for a new drive

Basically just going to remove the old drive with the bad sector and leave as is, stuff it in a cupboard and forget about it. Might come in handy would like to get a 4tb at some point.


This one not so great, good health, but wouldn't trust it for normal use. Will use this drive as a Offline backup that I can restore from.

In the process of Copying over steam library to this drive. Is pretty decent smart wise and trust this one a lot more.

Copying is going to take awhile, already got some unreadable file errors during the copying process, 4 or so files so far, no biggie it is steam files so not hard to get them again. Seems like replacing it was the right call.

Have you seen the prices of nand :p lol....

I will eventually get a nand drive, still need a m.2 drive, but not at the current pricing. I don't do multiplayer much, so doesn't really matter, loading times wise. On LTE, so it's cheaper just to keep it installed instead of having to download again.

Aaah the LTE makes sense :-). Cause yeah I had games on HDD thinking hey load times aren't an issue, but some games it does matter even in game.
