New The PC Build Thread

This is nonsense.

That CPU will happily support faster RAM speeds.

Have a look here, their conclusion is that it is not worth going over 5600 and voiding the CPU warantee as the gains are small.

comparing 5600 and 6000, and there you get functionally no usable improvement. On paper there is a difference, but it isn’t what you’d call statistically significant

Blackwell is starting to look more and more like an Ada Lovelace refresh, well, if you only consider its value for gaming. All of its exclusive software features for gaming are now coming to Lovelace. RTX 4000 people will have access to Smooth Motion too. Apparently they are busy with QA for previous gen GPUs and Lovelace is confirmed. It is just a matter of when?

RTX 4000 owners aren't left behind. RTX 5000 is just a plus version thereof. Ignoring decoders/encoders and other stuff for computing.

How much of this will be coming to RTX 3000 is unknown. Don't get your hopes up.

Lots of videos refering to the 50 series as the 40ti. Which looks like a good representation. We might see the the 60 series come out sooner than typical releases.

So the Friend that needed a new PC got quite a lucky break and had a decent windfall this month. it was not expected, and he was looking at how to solve his problem as cheap as possible. wiht the windfall he decided to buy new, as he had never had new components.

he went wiht Evetech because he could not beat the price on any other site he knew of.

He got:
Antec AX20 Elite CAse R600
GAmidias KRATOS P1A 750G Power Supply R999
MSI B550 Mobo Ryzen 7 5700 CPU KLEVV 32GB 3200MHZ RAM Upgrade kit for R6197

that upgrade kit really made it impossible to argue as I could not build the set up he got for cheaper anywhere else.
I know everyone here is against Evetech due to the terrible return and warranty and post sales.

His exact words were "my budget means that I have to risk the bad after sales and hope that buying everything new will mean I get a few years of decent use" and it was really hard to argue with him, because he followed my advice on what mobo and CPU to go with, and bought new instead of second hand.

any thoughts on what he did, or could have done better? maybe a different upgrade kit with less ram would have been better? I dont know. this is more to update those who helped me when I asked a while ago as this is not my PC and I was just helping wiht advice

I mean... Gamdias and Klevv are brands that would never see the inside of my PC. However, if they work then cool.

Let's hope they ship 2 RAM modules - Evetech are notorious for bundling a single DIMM with their upgrade kits, meaning you run at single channel.

Keep in mind, if any of the components in the bundle are faulty, he has to return all of them - Evetech treat bundles as single items, so a RAM failure means CPU, MOBO, RAM all going back. Why? Because Evetech.

The 5700 is a terrible cpu though, it's not even equivalent of a 5600. AMD screwed the pooch with that chip

Build it myself, every time, but I know what I'm doing. Nothing wrong with people having the company build it for them if they lack the knowledge or are worried about it.

Again though, depends on the company I think.

I always build but if you do have issues its much harder to blame you if they assembled everything. With good companies its usually just some annoying questions but with dodgy ones they might refute your claim just because they can.

what makes it so bad?
It's basically the 5700g without the G, so it's older tech, it's half the cache, doesn't have pci-e support. Basically AMD did a stinker on there labelling it as a 5700, making people think it's like the 5600

so wiht the upgrade kit do you think going for the ryzen 5 5500 and the b550 would have been better than the ryzen 7 5700 and the same B550?

wiht 32gb of RAM:
Ryzen 5 5500 is R5898
Ryzen 7 5700 is R6197

Well the 5700 does have 2 more cores and a bit faster but otherwise they aren't the best
