New VW logo unveiled

So lets be honest vw probably spend millions to change something that has zero function on a car.

Volkswagen reveals updated logo at Frankfurt show

Volkswagen ushered in a new era at the Frankfurt Motor Show with the premiere of its first mass market electric car, the ID.3, which is the first of an entire family of battery car all based on a new dedicated architecture.

With so much change in the air, the German carmaker also saw fit to introduce a new logo and brand design. While the new logo still retains the familiar circle encasing the ‘V’ and ‘W’ letters, it has a flatter, two-dimensional design that has been reduced to its “essential elements” in order to create a clearer look.

Maybe explain the point you're trying to make. Taking into account everything VW considered when they decided to make the change.

My point is that changing the badge is pointless. What effect will this have on the owner? zero nada.
who cares if the badge went flat?

How would you know? Do you work in the VW marketing team?

I am in marketing btw. MY point lets say hypothetically you drive a golf GTI. You as the owner of this golf what effect does a badge change have in your life? Is the car now faster ? worth more ? lighter on fuel?
Its pointless for any vw owner. It might be a marketing exercise to have people debate a badge and put the brand on the coffee table.

All Subaru's have the 6 stars badge, some Impreza's had a pink badge with the letter I.
There was no media statement , marketing exercise and had zero effect on anyone.

Yes, brands and branding play a b s o l u t e l y no role in selling cars. Marketing and brand image is totally not a thing and nobody spends money on managing their brand and their customer's brand perceptions.. People buy VWs because of their solid value and intelligent engineering. Not because of the brand .

You say you are 'in marketing'? O k a y.

You don't know any VW drivers, do you? A year from now there will be aftermarket 3D VW badges for sale at the flea market which will add 5kw per badge.

Dunno why people are getting worked up over a ducking logo.

They are all gonna get stolen in any case.the only thing they should be worried about is whether it’s going to be cheap to replace or not.

Good luck VWers.

Yeah. every brand undergoes refreshes, design languages change. People will almost never like something new/different when they familiar. It probably wont change much for the average VW fan. And the injection moulded badges will basically be a skinnier version of the old one. Either way, i bet that in addition to a logo refresh, there's a complete CI update, including the design language ad campaigns, media, everything which will probably come together at some point.

As I said before, i think its fine, i just have an issue with the lineweight of the outer ring.

Yip. Just like the change to the ABSA logo recently, it makes no difference in my life. Seems to affect those who don't even use/buy a brand, who is the most upset with it.
