New VW logo unveiled

New direction going forward. Ties up with EV ID3.

To hopefully fully distance itself from Dieselgate.

You're probably right there, but I still thinks it's stupid. Change for the sake of changing.

As a designer I can't find fault with this.

I'd be interested to hear why you think it isn't a load of crap.

To me, it looks like a cheap software logo bought ready-to-go from Graphic River or similar. The bottom padding makes the whole thing look unbalanced and more like a jagged shape than lettering.

I don't see any of the elegance and appeal of the previous logo in this new flat one. And considering that vehicles have a 3D badge on the front, having that really awesome, curved, glossy 3D logo made sense. Maybe they'll still do that, but I'd assume the mockups would have shown that if so. Basically, they went from a visually striking logo to one that looks like it belongs to a company selling a $10 software tool.

....Wordpress

...has a fairly different logo?

Without going into a debate here (I can see all the Golf fanatics in the thread) let me first say I am not a fan of VAG products. See far too many breaking down on the side of the road and have worked on too many.
The logo is clean and minimalist. Often one of the goals when faced with the task of designing a logo (or logotype) is the concept of minimalism, in other words, using as few elements as possible to convey an iconic and distinctive brand. Its clean, and looks much like the logo as it appeared in the 1950s

As with EVERY new logo ever made. people will hate it. then a year down the line its normal and OK and relevant.

That being said, Though I dont mind the LOGO. the lineweight of the outside circle feels off. other than that. its exactly what an update of a logo will look like in current/future design language

Exactly what I thought when I first saw it

Edit: Somehow, I imagined it on the Honda e Concept car.

You'll fall in love with it eventually. You'll learn to love it:p:D

I hated the old flat one as well, now they have an ugly flat logo again. Maybe it looks different irl, but I doubt it would look better

Seems its fashionable nowdays to make company logos simple and basic.Off the top of my head examples include Internet Solutions and Juventus football club. These logos look like they've been designed by 5 year olds.
