Is news.saix.co.za having problems? I can connect but can't seem to be able to start any downloads.I'm using NewsLeecher and Alt.Binz as clients and am experiencing the same problem with both

Sounds about right. Uncached stuff (during peak) spikes between 0 and +/-10. Much better at night although not full line.

I also use the IS server and sometimes it does better on uncached during peak. Otherwise it sucks
