What time and server are you referring to? If you mean the age of the NZB (i.e. the time it was uploaded to Usenet), then it being on the server for 5 hours does not mean that it is cached. If it downloaded slowly, it was not cached.

It never did mirror Giganews. It is a misconception that Giganews gets mirrored, it came from an ISP stating on their website that "SAIX now mirrors Giganews...". That is not true, SAIX/IS only gets their feed from Giganews.

Well to be precise, it's a TV show, the latest episode aired. It's usually cached and I downloaded the previous shows during the day.

I see, I always though they did mirror giganews. By feed, do you mean text or binaries?

Maybe you were the "lucky" first person that day to download it, hence it was not cached ;)

I mean any data from the news server, text or binaries, doesn't matter. Whatever is not cached on the local news server is then requested from Giganews' server.

It near the end of the month, it always gets like that from the 15th onwards.

I'm sure it has been better than this in previous months, maybe just my imagination.

I know. I use IS in the beginning of the month then switch over to SAIX around the 17th because it's much better. Not really sure why it's so bad now.

Well I think it might be related to the issues SAIX were having with the cable break?

It's almost the end of the month. This is pretty normal behaviour for the local servers at this time.

Too bad there are no usenet servers locally (paid ones).
Usually you gotta buy an international one like giganews and use SAIX/IS cap for it.

doubt we'll see one anytime soon, coz then SAIX/IS wont profit as much from ppl's downloading addiction. :)

Why did this thread ever get unstickied?

I dunno... I also wondered that. Seems popular enough to keep it stickied.

Newshost has been closed for new sign-ups for about two years. where have you been? :D

They have only taken about 2000 new members on their birthday and Jan 1st for a few hours.

All other invites have been disabled.

Does anyone know what's going on with OpenWeb's downstorm service? They had a beta a while ago and it worked really well!

s'OK... but you just need to keep an eye out on here for announcements. You will soon see when they have another opening. Around about the time of their birthday.
