Why when downloading from the SAIX server I can only get 2 threads to download? The other thread keeps saying: unable to connect and then skips to a new line.
So effectively I can only download 2 threads at a time. I am using Grabit.

If it has PAR files, just use that to fix the corrupted RAR file.

To be honest. I have never needed to fix a file using PAR2. I have all the PAR files that downloaded with the NZB.
How do I go about this process?
A guide tutorial maybe? I am busy scanning through this thread to find the answer. but if you want you can quickly post a solution.

Nevermind.
I always ask these stupid questions and then get it right 2 minutes later.
I still don't know what I did but it is working now.

I opened the RAR file in quickpar and it did some stuff really quickly and said done.
I then opened the file and it worked?

Was that the correct thing to do?

Yes quickpar uses the par2 files and fixes the broken rars

BTW, why do you download all the PAR files if you never needed them, a bit of a waste.

I just start the NZB via Grabit and leave it to do its thing.

I normally download only the first 2 par files, the smallest, run quickpar if I remember to find a broken file, then extract or DL only the needed par file(s) to repair the other files.

AltBinz pauses all PAR files (except for the small PAR2 examination file) and only grabs them if needed Also, if it needs say 7 blocks, it will grab the exact PAR files (ie the PAR with 3 blocks and the PAR with 4 blocks)

So what you are actually saying is, I must use Alt.Binz instead of Grabit?
Will this then automatically download decode and fix files if necessary?

merlins-portal. If you have succesfully registered please let me know how you did it because I have tried 9 different e-mail addresses with 20 different usernames and everytime it tells me that I can not create multiple accounts.

I am on Merlin's Portal... can't remember how I did it though. Will investigate. In the meantime try a different browser and a different e-mail address. I had similar problems to what you describe registering with Digg.

Just tried it in IE and Firefox. Also tried different emails. Still same message.

You are not allowed to register multiple accounts on this forum

We know such isp's as AOL for example fail at times to let site emails through

For all these guys downloading tons of gigs a month from the news servers - what server are you using?

I've tried is and saix and both seem unavailable during the day and unreliable at night. I was going to get a local only account for news servers but if I can't connect to any of them what's the point?

I also want to know the answer to this. cos I have the same problem.

I suspect they are using the 32 connections hack to download this much.

I can grab plenty from Giganews... but that is international. The local news server are kuk though.
