5 connections to IS per user account purchased. Purchase more than 1 account and you should be entitled to more. It's not exactly what one would call a "hack" as compared to an entitlement from a a product purchase.

International news account is the best though. :) You get what you pay for.

How do you know that all the guys who are making up to 32 connections have actually purchased the accompanying number of accounts? Is someone monitoring them to make sure they don't abuse it? What about SAIX? How many connections are they allowed on SAIX?

IS server limits to 5 connections per IP. One concurrent connection per local account.

Explain the hack?

They use IPCop and Virtual servers to create spoofed IPs and thus create multiple logins. I am NOT going to tell you exactly how to do it. There was a guy last year who posted the instructions here. Caused a lot of friction.

My isp has blocked every port. I can only FTP and email as usual. But they say when I use grabit then it slows their network down.
Currently they have blocked all peer2peer activity and I cannot use Grabit and I have had to suspend my account with Giganews until they are able to accomodate me.

I am thinking of switching to Telkom and Cybersmart next month should my current ISP not help me.

Is there anyone that can give some advice to my isp. They say that when I use grabit, it crashes their network.

Crashing the network of your ISP?

Use SSL connection to your news server. They cannot block port 443.

Its called BlueChip Online. I have had great success with them the past 4 years. I used to be able to use Utorrent or Limewire but now all that is blocked. I have been using Grabit since March this year and now all of a sudden that is blocked. I only do about 3g of download a month.

I am thinking of going for a 4mb ADSL line from Telkom/Cybersmart, but need all your advice i can get!

Do you think 4mb will do the same job for me as my current line speed which is throttled to 1024mb.

My isp has a 4mb telkom line but all users are graded and I only get a line speed of between 512k and 1024mb. I get my internet wirelessly from them.

Never heard of them. They're ripping you, that's for sure. Tell them to bugger off and then move to a real ISP like WebAfrica.

Sounds like they have a plum or politician on the tech support line if they told you that story.

If your single-line grabit is killing their network then you must be their only customer and they're using dial-up fax-speed for their main connection. :p

I am the only one on their network that use grabit and they say I am crashing their network. I limit myself to only using 3g of news server content a month. The balance of my bandwith is used for emails and ftp.

I have until month-end to switch to Cybersmart/Telkom.

My current internet is: Wireless 1024mb line and uncapped but I cannot use P2P :(

I think a 512k line may also suffice for me, but would my download speeds be?

Regards

Ah.. wireless. :p 512 should be fine. Downloads depend on where it is coming from. Roughly 40-50KB/sec.

When I use Grabit, I make use of giganews and astraweb for downloading from a news server.

I am thinking of going for a 512k line as because I think a 4mb line will just be a bit expensive.

What I must note is that I am wanting to share my internet connection with another point a few metres away in another building. My new ISP has assured me they can make my 2nd place a hotspot so I can have my siblings also share the internet from another pc.

Regards

i got a simple but probably stupid question. im on a telkom account with 1gig international and 10gigs local. Im running route sentry at the moment with telkom for local and axxess prepaid for international, at the moment my telkom international is capped. My question is--- at the start of next month is it possible to only use my telkom account? will my news server downloads be subtracted off my telkom 10gig local?

I'm no expert and base my answer on what I've read on here...

The obvious answer is that to start using your Telkom local you have to use your 1GB international first. But some guys on here have stated that if you're on local on the last day of the month, and you don't reser your router, that on the 1st of the new month you could still be using local bandwidth, until your router is reset.... perhaps someone else will venture a better answer.
Welcome btw, 1st post :)
