True. I will however say one thing for Bon Jovi...at least they had some semblance of musical talent (e.g. their guitarist...can't recall the name...could actually play quite well) even though they played VERY generic music.
I suppose I shouldn't be that surprised with the likes of what sells in the pop industry. It's just frustrating that those with the least raw talent always seem to make it big, while those super talented individuals never receive much/any attention.
Agreement on all counts - also: it has to do with age, I can remember getting 'Slippery when wet' on vinyl as a youth and being the hippest kid on the block!
I'd guess that ten to twelve year olds today fig Nickleback is teh roxxorz!
Was watching this Top 10 video & read the many comments:

I don't understand the hate?! I believe the hate is mainly due to the fact the internet told them to hate them & people are "sheeple".
Over the years they had some good to actually great songs. With very little duds in-between. Consistently good.
Their best work was from early to late '00's.
I don't buy the "generic sound" argument as well that some people like to throw at them. If you want to play that card many rock bands have a so-called generic sound.
If you hate them discredit them on merit not crap.
/Rant off
I like Nickelback. Screw you I do think care.

good is a relative term, and I can come up with a very long list of bands that are better than this band
Arctic Monkeys, Interpol, Radiohead, Queens of the Stone Age, A Place to Bury Strangers, The Raconteurs, Elefant spring to mind off the top of my head
