No Man's Sky

The transmission tower is what you use to find new ships. You go into them, interact with the console and do a simple mathematical pattern and it will point you to a crashed ship. Crashed ships will always have either 1 slot more or less than yours.

I realise what I was doing wrong last night. I was going to the wrong building!

Last night I spent about an hour flying around and hitting as many real trasmission towers, and upgrading my ship \:D/ Almost hit 30 slots.

How do you land you ship? I just started. Fixed my ship, took off, saw something interesting and wanted to land. But the damn ship refused to go near the ground?

press square

or E on pc.

Landing pads/landing beacons (glowing red/silver/yellow small pillar looking things) don't cost you any resources to take off from

On some occasions, if you aim right and slow right down, you will get a 'ship target' indicator to assist you landing :)

correct. or you just have to be near the pad/beacon and it will dock automatically

Other thing is when exploring a planet and find a beacon craft a bypass chip and it will call your ship.
Again no resources

so last night i landed on a luminous hell hole, but damn was it profitable! do a scan and nothing but green exclamations. Although when the sentinels sniffed i was there they were out in force. so my night consisted of jumping out of my ship to get a couple graviton balls while fighting off the sentinels chomping on my heels bolting back to my ship, then taking off landing on a different island and trying again. had an absolute blast! all of this while fatal storms going on. even the damn caves were below freezing so they didn't even offer any relief.

sounds like a good time :D

I had a similar experience but with Vortex Cubes

I'm currently trying to load my ship full of carbon, plutonium and Thamium9 so I can start my Magmox production business ^_^

I found this out too late so gonna give you guys a tip when upgrading your ship. I did mine in a vykeen galaxy sigh

THIS ONLY WORKS ON A GEK PLANET (don't know why its bugged)

-craft a few bypass chips
-use the orange light beams (fly around there are plenty) to look for a transmission
-keep doing it until you find a transmission tower.
-Go to transmission tower.
-answer the simple equation and you will get a crashed ship (on gek planets you can use the transmission tower as many times as you want).
-so do this 30 or so times and then go and collect the ships.
-Make sure to dismantle all the equipment guns etc (even on the broken things) every time you get to a new ship. You have to be in possession of the ship to dismantle things. You will receive epic loot omegon etc which is very hard to come by, by dismantling these parts.
-The only things you need to fix on your new ship are launch thrusters and pulse engine to get it moving.
-by the time you are finished you will have a 48 slot ship with all the slots filled with hard to come by materials.
-Takes about 2-3 hours for a 48 slot ship.

You DO NOT need anything other then a small amount of zinc, iron, heridium and plutonium but most of these you get back from the ships. So make sure the planet you are on has these things lying around

Cool - will give it a try tonight!

I have to support Jim,

then to add,

http://www.geek.com/games/no-mans-s...pes-your-discoveries-after-two-weeks-1668222/

No Man’s Sky wipes your discoveries after two weeks

One of the biggest selling points of No Man’s Sky for many folks was that they could name solar systems, planets, animals, plants, and regions within planets to whatever they wanted (provided it was family friendly, of course). In what seems to be a recurring theme for this game, it turns out that this feature isn’t exactly what was promised as several players are reporting that, after two weeks, their discoveries get erased from the game.

Is there a mod yet that gets rid of the sentinels and outpost stuff? Until then I really don't have much interested in resuming my exploration. Those just kill the immersion for me.

Not that I've seen yet..

Except that it doesn't.

The only thing more disappointing than No Man's Sky is how pathetically desperate some are to jump onto the ****-on-NMS-bandwagon. :p

I'm with you there. Next to every review is about three things:

- It's broken and doesn't run well (this seems to not come up often now since they've been patching)
- It's boring, and repetitive
- They lied to us.

It kind of makes me glad I bought it, played it, then watched reviews. But on the flip side, I am left wondering what happened. If I put myself in the shoes of those that shower all the hate, it's quite clear that we did not buy what we were expecting to get.

I'm 37 hours in, and I rate I'll clock in at least another 10 before I move on. But I would like to know what happened and why, and if there is a possibility of us getting what we were essentially told would be there in the first place.

What made me more sad is when I found out what happens when you get to the center. And the fact that the Honest Trailer did not warn that there would be spoilers :/

So I played some NMS this weekend.
It started off pretty relaxed. I was actually enjoying myself.

Then I found a MASSIVE column of some rare mineral and got stuck in mining it. So I decided to move my ship closer so I could store the deposits easier. Only my ship got hooked on a pillar on takeoff, and eventually blew up as I couldn't get it unstuck.

Next thing I'm on the nearest space station with a broken ship and no iron or panel things to fix it.
After harassing about 20 incoming traders I'd only found 1 panel I needed out of 5. So I did the next best thing I could and bought a traders ship just so I could carry on playing....
Of course there is no way to find the rare mineral column I was mining again :(

The issue was resolved in the latest patch, or about two patches ago.

Nothing happens in the center. So not much was spoiled :\
