No Man's Sky

Been watching quite a few videos on this game and really sold on it now, it's definitely on my wantlist now.

Just not sure yet if I'm prepared to pay release price for it or if I'll rather wait for a special.. I have this personal R25/hour rule where I consider a game a good buy if it gives me at least one hour of entertainment per R25. ;)
No Man's Sky will need to gimme at least 24 hours! :p To be fair though, that's usually just how I rate them in retrospect.

Minecraft can give one hours of fun all alone on your own little slice of planet, building and tinkering along. So based on that I guess this game's solitary exploration principle can probably provide some fun as well. Don't know if I'll be interested unless you can build structures/cities/empires and truly colonise these planets. If I just go to different planets to look in wonder at the strange new plants/creatures/terrain and shoot some things with my spaceship on the way there the infinite planets will probably become infinitely boring.

this game is seriously cursed... from Floods, to trademark claims to delays to now patent claims:

PC Gamer

i am not sure if the game will ever come out. I don't doubt the patent claim is legit but to wait until so close to release to make the claim even though Sean Murray said 2 years ago that he was using their formula is an ass move and screams quick money grab for a company that has claimed bankruptcy recently.

Glad now I haven't purchesed a pre-order yet

I have been on the hype train for a while now. 1st class and all. Pre-ordering tomorrow \:D/

I was hoping to find physical media only because it's usually cheaper than steam (or it was the last time I pre-ordered a game). But it looks like no one locally is planning to sell the PC version.

If it sucks, it sucks, and I'll be down R600. But I doubt it'll suck. I have faith!

Are you concerned about possible delay in release date due to this legal license claim on the algorithms to produce the procedural universe?

No creator's stated that it isn't in use.

Don't get me wrong. I simply cannot wait for this game. I'm really amped. But I read that they never discussed license fees and this may hold up the release. I haven't read any further updates since last week.

hope not, really hope the release is in April as they (Hello Games) say

the concept is cool. but i fail to see how a world with this scale can be fun to play for more than a few days.
