No speed limits. No caps.

Great initiative!

Just out of curiosity, if the service is free, then how is the bandwidth cost covered?

Alchemist: WUG's dont provide internet, wugs are non-profit, non-commercial entities - basically a huge LAN over the entire city.

caspa: Ja, check www.dwc.za.net

Been wugging for over a month now and all I can say is that it surpassed my every expectation. The guys on the irc are super helpfull and even if you know snot about anything wireless of networking they will be able to help you hook you up the the awesomeness.
And yes there is no internet, but trust me once you start wugging your internet will be reserved only for banking and news. Big ups to the every single oke on the wug.

I am willing to host a node in cape town over looking most of the city, I just don't have the funding for what is needed, but I'm willing to host it if some one lends me their old stuff perhaps?. In the lovenstein area at the top over looking cpt and we have a clear view double story...

Please use the CTWug's WIKI to get more information. There is a how to, on how to get your self plotted on our node database.

Get that done first! Then come chat to us on #ctwug on irc.

Hope to see you join the WUG soon.

Will def give it another go now , the problem is I am about to move in the next 6 months , so I will hold back till then , Judt for info is the kenwyn/Crawford area's covered ?

Each WUG has their own node database. So if you intend to connect to Cape Town's WUG. Read up on how to use the online Wireless Node Data base.

Here is a how to on Getting Started. Written by the community.
