So I restarted my pc yesterday, and after booting up, the taskbar (Win XP) has just disappeared....restarted it again, but it seems like it's gone forever-just displays the wallpaper without icons. Now i have to open all the services manually(including explorer.exe)....what's could the problem be? I've had a look at services that startup automatically under msconfig, but it still doesn't work.

my windows xp was also screwed up like that, got tired of it and switched to Windows 7. could be virus, i found a virus in my xp it sort of fixed the problem.

press ctrl+shift+esc go to processes and have a look if explorer is running. If not go to applications, new task and then type explorer.

Ya, i know how to open explorer manually, but as a norm it should automatically run after each boot up process as it has been in the past
