We've all waited for this - a touch-sensitive phone from Nokia. And the more they hyped the fabulous Apple iPhone, the more anxious everyone had been growing. Having launched a PR campaign of immense power Apple did not hesitate to take on Nokia on its very own turf. But Nokia have got some trumps up their sleeves as well, and among them are several solutions that will leave the whole Cupertino sleepless.

+1. Awesome phone. I wonder when it will hit our shores, though.

Edit: Okay I will go read the other 5800 thread for answers :D

Yes Nokia is so on the ball that they are only planning to release this phone next year.
Utter idiots.
And if it has anything to do with Symbian (which it does) its going to be a dusgusting user experience, with any functionality hidden behind 3 levels of menus. I would be exited if I trusted NOKIA at all.

e.cachucho, did you by any chance read the review ? This is the new Symbian 9.4 and the UI is pretty damn good....

nokia is losing the plot...i see nothing here thats any cooler than the iPhone or BB
once innovators, i definitely feel they are lagging big time

Not cooler than the iPhone - interesting. What temperature do you have for the iPhone then ?

The Nokia has a 640x360 pixel screen, a 3.2megapixel auto focus camera with flash (ok it is LED) - all of these are pretty good. If you look at the input methods you can use with the Nokia then it does seem a tad better than what you get on an peach or orange, even an apple. When talking about price you will find that the Nokia costs about the same as an orange, which is less than half the price of an apple, but lets not compare oranges and apples.

Being an XpressMusic handset you get a lot of music with your purchase of the Nokia, and you do not have to pay for each song. The predecessor to Comes with Music is something called I tunes. I think it was innitially used to descibe the service and the full sentence was "I tunes you a bunch of crap" :p

Anyways, I can go on and on with all these fruity things but for now I will leave you measure the temperatures of the two devices and give me the readings you get. Then perhaps we can see if the apple is indeed cooler than the nokia.

So why are nokia trying to copy the iPhone?

From what I head the Nokia top-brasses speak about when they said they will copy the iPhone it had something to do with "out doing them at their own game" or something like that. I could not overhear everything they spoke about because Robin wanted to get back to the Batcave in a hurry.

Anyways, looks like they most certainly did manage to out do them on all levels with this first copy.

So who did Apple copy, when they created their phone?

Ja that was a good one to overhear.

So anyways, Steve was there mumbling to himself, as he usually does when he goes to the mens room, about how he needs to get the internet into an iPod. He sketched up this thing that looked like a screen with one button and afterwards he looked into ways of getting the internet onto it. Cellular networks was a new concept to him so he took a gamble and used it for connectivity to the internet in his new internet-ipod. His biggest issues was a name for it, iiPod (internet iPod) really did not sound kewl.

Anyways, so he showed it to Bill at a braai one day (in the hope he would steal it and the Steve could steal it back + improments) but Bill said, "that looks like a neat phone"... and there it was... BAM!.. just add a telephone to his new iiPod and call it iPhone.

But I could not stick around, the mayor of Gothham City sent me a message to my old Ericcson R380 saying that the Batmobile was being towed away because I was parked on a disabled zone.

lol I wonder what kind of tow-truck you need to tow away a batmobile.

Do Nokia know that there's another iPhone out in Feb?

Dude, not the right one I can tell you ! :p The really messed up the bat mobile badly and I had to spend all the money I would spend on getting me a new phone on repairs to the Batmobile. Needless to say I am still stuck with my Ericcson R380.

I am not to sure about that. Last time I was in Espoo (Robin got caught there for drunk driving, in the batmobile, had to go bail him out) the guys at Nokia were so focussed on the 5800 that they would not notice even if the next iPhone was launched right next to them.

They were speaking Finnish and to the best of my abilities using my Bat ears and could translate them saying something about
"...5800 is the number that will drive them to the loony bin, it will kick the asses of next two future fruit releases..."

Then again I could have overheard them incorrectly and they could have said
"...5800 that is the number of the loony bin, call them and let them come take this freak in his batman outfit away".
