Nokia 6680

I should be getting my 6680 this week. But I'm lazy and don't want to go through all 34 of this thread to get all the details on what I can do with it. Can somebody please point me to the pages that would interest me or maybe give me a summary of what I should know.

Thanks.

I got a twincall sim so I can use my 3G bundle on my datacard and Nokia 6680 at the same time.

Just tried it now and for some reason I could only get GPRS connections with the 6680. Even tried setting it to 3G only with NetMonitor. But still Nokia PC Suite only connected at 115 Kbps.

Am I doing some stupid. Probably! Any ideas?

The modem's port speed is probably set to that. You must set it to 460 kbps. I can't check now where exactly, but you can set it somewhere.

VLive settings - Non vodafone 6680

Hi all,

I while ago someone posted the AP details and link shortcut for VLive. I configured it way back when on my Non-Vodafone 6680, and it still works. However, I see it connects to vodafone.com.

Can anyone be so kind as to post the settings from their VLive 6680?

Thanks

It's a good idea to upgrade your 6680 to the VLive firmware. Not only do you get the latest firmware but your phone's profile will be registered as a VLive phone and everything should then work properly.

With a non-Vlive phone (even a vanilla 6680), the phone 'id' is different and the system won't recognise the phone properly as a 6680. This might lead to some strange results such as the one where you get a message your not in 3G coverage when you try and access certain content.

@ajax: Thanks mate
@v3g: That is the whole idea, I've been wanting to upgrade to v4, but the same old problem is still there - I can't backup my phone as it bombs out every time I try to do a backup, so I am basicaly screwed!

Hi vodacom3g, long time. What's the best way to get my firmware updated? Can I do it myself?

When i click on the live key on my 6680 it says "connection to server needed, Connect?" I press yes I get connecting via Vlive!...then I get an error "Packet Data, Packer data conenction not available"

I checked under Tools-> Settings->Connections->Packet Data I have none listed under access point - is this correct?

Just activated my new contract and phone....any help would be appreciated.

Do you have the Vlive service activated on your SIM? Check that with 155 (free call from any Vodacom phone), they may have also only provisioned you for voice and not data - check that too when you call in

v3g ne news of when 128k sim cards will be available from vodacom. I know mtn is already supplying them.

Dont know if this is related, but under the packet data setting type in "internet" I couldnt use the phone as a modem until I did that.

Can a phone that supports 3g, like this nokia 6680, be used as a 3g modem for a pc?

So I made the time, and the backup, and my 6680 is now on Firmware 4.04.07. I will let you know if it helped. Oh, and this firmware is not VLive by default. They can load it, but they don't force it on you

Why not firmware version 5?

Nokia 6680 not switching on

Since last week my nokia 6680 does not switch on after been switched off. The alarm does not go off and when I manually switch it on it only goes as far as the nokia logo which keeps on flashing. no response even when pressing any buttons. as soon as I remove the memory card the phone then boots up.
is this software or hardware?
:(

Huh? 5? WTF? Vodaworld told me this 4.xx is the latest one, and btw, it still didn't fix ANY of my problems!

Wish we had a Nokia Rep in this place. I have always been a Nokia fan, but after this disaster (not even to mention my wife's 9300) I am not sure I want to be a Nokia fan anymore
