Nokia N8

What was wrong with the camera?

I think he forgot to take the plastic cover off the camera :D

I've seen lots of people complain about the camera, only to realise that the plastic was still on.

I went outside quickly and posted a sample pic in this thread, doesn't seem like anything is wrong with it to me.

Bought my N8 just now from nokiastuff.co.za - how long do they take to deliver? Is there anyone else that has bought from them?

@Maelly

If you haven't mastered the SWYPE application that is available to download from the Ovi Store, then you have not really experienced the true powers of touch phones. I suggest you take your sister's phone again and start playing around with SWYPE. It works much faster than any QWERTY will ever. On 22 March 2010 a new Guinness World Record of 35.54 seconds was set for the fastest text message on a touchscreen mobile phone using Swype on the Samsung Omnia II, and improved on 22 August of the same year to 25.94 using a Samsung Galaxy S.

Tried Nokia Sports Tracker for the first time yesterday on my N8. I know I had it on my N82 and 5800 but trying it out on the N8 for the first time was brilliant.

Here is a short review for anyone that is interested in an N8 - and I [-]am[/-] was a Nokia fanboi :

Review:
The new Nokia N8 from Nokia runs Symbian^3 and has a 12mp camera. It is technically the most advanced phone you can buy. But its a piece of s**t because it breaks after 7 days.

Design:
Fail. The battery cannot be removed, one of the most epic fails on a Symbian powered Nokia device. While you might only require this feature once a year, you know your f***ked when you don't have it.

Summary:
Its got all the features a Nokia should have, but its not built like a Nokia should be built, its built more like a piece of s**t.

Conclusion:
Don't get a Nokia N8, its total crap and you will buy yourself a box full of frustration.

Good value for money:
No - unless you are paying the same price for it as milk and bread, cause that only last 7 days at best - like the N8.

Should you get one:
If you are a masochist, yes get one and feel the pain when it breaks down.

Edit : Getting a new one delivered tomorrow - will see if its any better.

Lawl, that's some epic humble pie.

Perhaps you just got one of the rotten eggs man. Hope your new one is better. Mine is still going strong after a month.

I hope so to, but as I wrote in another thread, this is not what I came to expect from Nokia. I have been using them since 1995 and I still have my original Nokia 1610 and it still works. This is the first time I had a phone just fail so badly and while I will continue to use their products and even recommend them in some cases, it won't be without a disclaimer that they can fail - instantly and epically. The 16month old 5800 I am using now has survived a 1 minute dive in the bath (very hot water) and its still going strong - that is what I expect from Nokia. Not something fresh and flimsy.
