Nokia N82 or Samsung Omnia

The omnia is a nice phone, it looks good and has very nice storage but eversince ive gotten one all ive had is problems. Its got way too many bugs. You would think that because it is such an expensive phone it should be problem free well it's quite the opposite and the ROM on it is not so good. It's still a nice change from a normal cellphone like Nokia, but it does take long to get used to!

Yes you are right, the ROM on MTN Omnia is still the first release dated back in August. But one of the fun part of owning WM devices are flashing the phone with cooked/custom ROMs to make it better and better.
 
Vodafone dont release ROM updates...you have to actually take it into the shop to get it upgraded... scared of bricking phone:). but then again im not all to clued up on that subject

So all these calls stating that Omnia does more out of the box are null and void as it seems you need to do a fair bit to just getting it workable?

And Symbian too have regular firmware updates, but these merely require you to connect your phone to your computer via USB, start up PC Suite, run Nokia Software updated and you are away again.... and the latest version on the N82 keeps all your existing apps and settings....

Strange, thats the same for the E90, 6300, 6110Nav, N95 and N73.

You may note that my post was in direct reference to the post about the Omnia... and this is an Omnia versus N82 thread, which you seem to always have an issue following! Why bring in all these other Nokias?

Further to this I think we need to add a warning that people should please ignore anything you say about phones and not believe any of it. You seem to be totally misinformed, or you are a liar. I owned the N95 and when you used to update the firmware you would need to reload all your applications as it would remove all of them!

Please remember that a firmware update will delete all data from your C drive (internal memory). You should back up your data. You may also wish to perform a sync with your PC to ensure any data you entered on your phone is on your PC. We also recommend writing down key settings (e.g. your email account information).

So then you probably didn't change the product code of the N95 to install the latest firmware or what?


Btw, after not listening to a word I say a buddy of mine got his N82 on Saturday. I was curious to play with it after reading all these wonderful posts about the N82. I mean, maybe I could be proven wrong. All I can say is "YUCK!!!!" My buddy is not that impressed either. He is going to swop it for his wifes' N95 8GB. Luckily she likes it, but then she only uses it to make calls and send SMS's.

So people, think twice before going for the N82. If you are not used to anything better, then go for it. :D

ya some ppl will like it and some wont, but notice, the YUCK part, which indicates it didnt get the vote for best looks. I got to agree it not the most flashy phone, but its built solid and it does its job well. You definitely cant score it bad for its brains. I challenge anyone!

So then maybe get an iPhone, its a very pretty dumb ass phone. As for functionality, the N82 and N96 does pretty much the exact same thing. Compare the specs ppl!

So if u want a pretty phone, get an iPhone or the N96. Seems Piesangs friends wife is the only sane one around :)

If anyone wants to play with the N82, you welcome to go to any Vodacome 4u, a lot of them have the N82, N96 and iPhone there on display for u to play with.
