Notice on MTN Coverage helpdesk

After filling in the " form" various times and emailing to coverage, emailing ALL there addresses 10 times and phoning till my ear hurts, I got a mysterious email yesterday from Lastmile Technology to say my installation has been booked. And a code number. Tried phoning to find out what they are installing but their phones go to a full mailbox. Their website is useless. Emails unanswered. Anyone know who they are and what they do? House robbers :wtf:
Sadly I'm all 808 ted and cannot try phoning MTN again……..

Now as per the above MTN statements, it just comes to show how useless they are in terms of maintenance and repairs.

Tower issues began in 21/01 - to date 3 are affected, everyone in and around the area will get congestion due to network traffic now being diverted.

Utterly useless. I am sure to make them notice we are tired of paying for services we don't get to enjoy properly. Alas, I have a strong 3G signal (full bars), but is so unstable when using for extended online sessions, especially when gaming, that you want to tear your hair out :wtf:

3 Contracts with them :cry: Where is the Lambo now MTN? :whistle:
 
Thankfully I got an agreement today in the mail. " installation of cell extender agreement". Signed and replied , confirmed receipt , date soon.

You will be in for a very long and twisted ride. Their customer service is appalling - yet to get my connection fixed. Going to klap an employee very soon.

I have full HSPA+/3G signal but the congestion in the area since 21 January 2013 is terrible. Will have to pull out of my contract and will site the useless service and degrading of the same as reasons to do so. Will probably have a helluva paperwork job to tackle but it's better than wasting money on crap.
 
Lastmile came on time Friday. Installed in a flash. Working like a dream. Full bars throughout the house and garden. I started emailing in November, little rant on hellopeter and a push from Consumer column in the local paper. Keep emailing. Send me your address and I might be able to forward some helpful names if they are still on my laptop or phone.
 
It's not a signal issue on my side :cry:

Staying on the Agricultural Holdings in North Riding, JHB. Posting constant complaints on hellopeter and their coverage desk. Also have someone from MTN Direct trying to assist.

Long battle still ahead I'm afraid :(
 
Can we not start cancelling our contracts if they don't keep to their end of the deal and provide us with a usable service?

As with everyone else here, I've sent them emails etc, and I get nowhere. I've got better things to do than to waste hours of my life moaning about their hopeless service.

The MTN network over the whole of Wits West Campus is often unusable. Voice calls and sms will go through eventually, but data.... Well that's a different story altogether. When you're very lucky you can send the odd whatsapp message. And then get 10 replies from different people all at once an hour later.

I really would have thought they'd be keen to make it easier for us to spend money. Apparently not.

Your symptoms sound familiar :D Unfortunately for us, the capitalist swine has won with the 24 month contract - which you are bound to regardless their non-service delivery due to their service standards being classified as "acceptable".

I have three contracts with MTN - cannot wait to get out of them which unfortunately span from a 6 to 20 month time period :wtf:
 
I found hellopeter sight very helpful in resolving an issue with MTN that they ignored for months. After hellopeter it was resolved withing 48 hours. Go figure. :)
 
I've been getting +500ms pings and 70kbps downloads on my Huawei B683 on uncapped lite now for a few weeks. It is down from 50ms pings and 4-5Mbps downloads. I'm in Lonehill, JHB North.

I called MTN, no luck. Emailed the coverage desk and had some success last week as "A coverage query has been logged for investigation , your reference number is :xxxx " and speeds picked up, only to drop again. I've always had HSDPA and now get Edge only. Even the coverage map says I should have HSDPA.

I'm seriously fed up.
 
I live in Bakerton, Springs, Gauteng. MTN has never ever had reliable 3g in this area, yet they show on their coverage map that they do have full 3G coverage on the 2100mhz band. I own multiple devices, HTC One, Nexus 5, Galaxy S3, bb 9790 none of them have 3g signal that's even close to usable. Recently a friend of mine signed a new contract with MTN under premise that they have 3g signal. Obviously the coverage claims are bogus. So my question is, firstly, are there regulations over areas MTN can claim to have coverage over? And if not, what channels can I use to get MTN to fix either the signal or the map.?? Thanks guys

Just wish I could say the same."Yoh I must say MTN is taking their coverage of clients seriously! Had a guy on site in 3 days!! Thumbs up MTN!"

I am being let down seriously my MTN after numerous phone calls I made to MTN and much wasted time spent at various MTN outlets. I am stuck with MTN due to my contract. The MTN support REALLY SUCK! Maybe it's just another South African thing..
 
My MTN signal in my apartment in Pineslopes is non existent. If it wasnt for my dsl connection i had no coms at all.

Anyone had any success with the coverage help desk lately? I've got two queries pending, one opened last week which has apparently been escalated to "Andre" the coordinator, the other I only opened today. Unfortunately the two places i spend pretty much all my time, my office and home, have horrific MTN coverage, but cell c and voda are fine.. not keen on porting again.
