Nutribullet

So I had a few eBucks lying around and noticed a Nutribullet special on at Dischem. R1,999 for the 600w unit 12 piece bundle with 12 x 300ml coconut waters.

Pulled the trigger and I'm beyond impressed. I usually make protein shakes with peanut butter and frozen banana in a regular shaker with a stick blender, however since switching to the Nutribullet the mess and effort have been replaced with smoother shakes and more time to klap gym (boet).

I've also started fruit + leafy green smoothies and really, where have they been all my life? They taste great (because **** kale, spinach FTMFW) and I'm already feeling healthier.

It's a bit pricey if you don't have ebucks (in which case why are you still with a poverty spec bank?), but honestly worth it.

Check the sugar in peanut butter ... I'm now using unsalted peanuts :p
this thing blends them fine ...

Seems this is pretty common since it's plastic.

Which is worrying.

How old is it? No warranty?

It could still be under warranty, it is less than a year old. I'll try take it back and see if they won't accuse me of damaging it.

Might go that route, at this point in time the sugar from peanut butter is pretty much all I get so I'm not too concerned.

Also I have a huge stockpile of some or other low salt low sugar health peanut butter that I need to get through. :o

Any massive reason to take the 900w or other fancier versions over the 600w?

Is there a real world difference or is it a keeping up with the Jones' thing?

Has anybody tried to make large quantities e.g. 2l and then decant from fridge over the next few days?

Was wondering the same thing. For R400+/- more, the 900W pro comes with extra cup-thingies and attachments?

I was looking at my old blender (1.5l) as it begs the question why choose the nutribullet over a much cheaper traditional blender. The nutribullet's capacity is much smaller, and isn't a big selling feature that you make small batches of stuff vs a large say 2 litres?

Guess you are right. Being lazy and needing one liter a day I was thinking of an alternative !

Is that the same one on the eBucks store right now? It seems to have less "pieces'.

Yes, that's what i was looking at. Haven't done much analysis of the options to tbh!

Took out my old 1.5l blender, its pretty massive and seems overkill and a space eater :/

Eyeing out these blenders, also wondering what advantage the bigger motor is - better blend or just blend more quantity at a time?

Can't speak for the 900w, but I regularly overload my 600w and have no complaints on how well it blends (includes, ice, nuts etc.)

It gets used three times a day (twice in the morning, once at night), 7 days a week and just powers through everything.

I got the impression there were design improvements besides the larger motor, but see if you can do a side by side comparison of the included extras you get with each option?

Placed an order for one of these this morning - now I just need to wait for it to arrive.

Still wondering what makes this special. My 500w blender bends just about anything to a smooth pulp.

To everyone asking what makes the Nutribullet so special:

This is pretty much the gist of the whole "why choose Nutribullet" argument. You can't tell someone why it's better, they have to use it yourself to see.

It powers through frozen fruit and veggies in 5 seconds tops. It's incredibly simple to clean, no mess no fuss. It's our most used appliance in the house. We make smoothies, slushies, cocktails, crushed ice, sauces, milkshakes, dom pedros, iced coffee and and and. It's just that convenient.

So i've had a glance at the Nutribullets on offer at Dischem (600W version) and they sell them in different sets so it's difficult to gauge what deal is the best to go for. Currently R1699 for an 8 piece set and it was around R2400 for a 600W larger 12(?) piece set IIRC.

eBucks.com has the 900W version for R2299 again.
