Official British & Irish Lions Tour Thread

If Steyn plays like he did on Saturday, in the semis and finals, he's a sure thing.

My thoughts as well. As much as I don't like the little &^%$ he is improving every week...

Do you really think they will make space for him?
He had a great season and certainly our in form fly-half. But do you really think old Snorre will make space for him?

Well you can not include just one flyhalf and at the moment we don't even have that, does anyone seriously think Ruan Pienaar has shown that he can be a world class flyhalf? Also his kicking sucks nads and we don't have another kicker in the starting line up if it looks anything remotely like it should, but he can work on that.

Pretorius also had a good one on Friday, any thought if he will be considered?

Mmmm they might go for his experience and his kicking ability.

They could use Rory at scrumhalf and as backup kicker.
He fights better than Pienaar.

Has anyone seen the awesome British Lions lion? There is a model of a lion (the big bitey thing) in a red jersey with a rugby ball. It was in Rowland Ward in Sandton City. It seems to be a limited edition with only 2009 pieces in total.

I didn't see a Springbok though.

Lol, yeah he does fight better and is not out after every game injured. We can then make Fourie Du Preez fullback :p

I don't know, pienaar could be a good flyhalf, he has all the talent but he is imo extremely shlt atm. I would not have even picked him for the sharks side in his current for. Also his kicking like I said is horrid, ffs that is something that there is no excuse for.

It was stolen, or it did not comply to the BEE standards and was removed.

I'd really like to see Spies on the wing.
Lomu se moer.

We have enough okes who can play 6, 7 and 8.

Doubt if spies will ever move back to wing. He has not played there in years, thus his defence and positional play would be lacking at intern level imo.

Also wing is the one place where we can automatically score 2 "people of colour" places. And the best thing? The "people of colour" are actually the best in their position! :D

People of colour are doing ok in most positions these days, just fly-half and the locks where we are short on those.

Mmmm yeah that is true. Maybe move sephaka to flyhalf :p

Also doing ok does not = the best :D

Yeah, but it's a start, and they'll get better.
It's certainly better than it was even 5 years ago.

(Sorry for derail :) )

Yeah thats what most people have been saying just give it time, the talent will be there :)

Back to talking B&I Lions... Did the bulls not get a game because of the federations cup?

We all talking about Steyn, Pretorius, Pienaar here. But what about Earl "Stokkie" Rose.
Snorre loves this guy and I just have this sick feeling that he will be included in the squad. *sigh*

Yes I do believe so. Lots of games to be played at Loftus. And to be honest. Where will they fit it in with the already full schedule? Lions are gonna be finished after this tour and will probably need a 6 month vacation.
At least Loftus got a Test match.

Yeah but imagen the bulls beating the B&I Lions... Would have been grand :)

IIRC "Noord Transvaal" was the only provincial team to beat the Lions during their 1997 tour. I know because I was there. Really amazing game that was.
30-35 for N.Tvl

He'll probably go with the Steyn / Du Preez combo.
