Then his knees got shot, he lost all his pace and he lost all his confidence. Torres was useless for us and it was not the system. Another example 33 year old Eot'o scored 9 in 21 for us while Torres scored 5 in 28. Tores was sh*t for us and it was all on him.

When I look at that video I actually just get more angry. He was absolutely horrible for us. I'm so glad he's gone now.

Never forget.

His problems weren't physical. His problems were in his head. Look at the statements from Inzaghi on his medical.

Biggest nonsense I've heard! Maybe in the beginning the system wasn't for him but we did so much for Torres. We bought a fantastic creative player in Hazard and Mata. We bought Oscar as well and yet he still didn't perform. For 2 seasons he was our main striker with Ba hardly ever getting a shout and a player like Sturridge being forced to leave because of it.

Creative players is one thing. Fitting them into a system that was adequate is another.

Despite having all those options over the past few years- why have NONE of our strikers had more than 20 goals other than Torres since he was transferred? Why have all our strikers been piss-poor in comparison to our rivals? Simple- we have not had a system built around or to specifically suit any one striker, least of all Torres.

The team has gone through a number of coaches over the years, there has been no stability. So it's folly to suggest that the team was built around Torres when only now, do we have a deep-lying playmaker of actual quality, and a proper defensive midfielder.

Tell me have you ever seen the runs Costa does Torres do? Fact of the matter is Torres was rubbish and it has nothing to do with our system. We literally built a team around him and he did fckall with it.

I have, many times, without him being picked out. We never built a team around Torres, ever. He went from a spearhead to a battering ram, then was shunted out. He isn't the same player he was at Liverpool for a reason.

Maverick i would say you just havent had a very good striker since Drogba left and thats why nobody got over 20 goals. Costa will get more than 20 goals if he stays fit no doubt.

A big part of it was physical, he lost some pace due to his shot knees. This is widely known, he had constant knee and hamstring injuries at Liverpool that affected him everyone knows that.

Perhaps, but that is why Torres was bought.

Yes, that doesn't mean that they were perpetual problems. His fitness has not been the issue for a while now, his confidence has been. Some of his misses have been criminal.

When he is confident, he is still pretty deadly- ask City last season.

Either way- I hope that he does well in Milan. The irony of us loaning our record fee striker to the club that we initially set the record with, is not lost on me.

Guys... Maybe we could just forget about Torres now ? Won't that be easier? ☺

PS. 10mil for Borini? Remy was a bargain!

Did you even read my post? Since Torres arrived we had Drogba for 6 months then afterwards Torres was our main striker for 2 seasons. Why did none of our striker have more than 20 goals you say Well that's because Torres was our only striker! Sturridge never played up front for us and Ba was mainly a sub. We were legit giving minutes to only Torres and he squandered it all. Now lets look at last season, we had a 33 year old Eto'o who suffered many injury lay offs and got 9 in 21 while Torres got 5 in 28. Demba Ba with his numerous last minute appearances got 5 in 19. Torres was useless. Let me point out another stat. 2011-12 season Sturridge got 11 goals out of 30, from the wing and from sub appearances, wanna know Torres' record, up front? 6 out of 32, where he started a lot of them.

Now let us move away from Chelsea and look at Spain to further enhance my point. THis was a team that was built around Torres and Villa since 08. He had passing maestros in Iniesta, Xavi and Xabi all behind him from 08 up til now, let's see how he faired. No point talking about 08 and 2010 since those were his Liverpool years, let's look at 2012 Euros and 2013 confed cup.

2012: Joint top scorer with 6 other people with 3 goals, only player who made it as far as him on the list is Balotelli., a few didn't even make it out of the group stages! Let's see his opponents 2 against Ireland and 1 against Italy in a game where the opponents defence collapsed completely.
2013: Joint top scorer with Fred with 5 goals, let's see his opponents. 4 against Tahiti, a team Spain beat 10 - 0 and 1 against Nigeria a team they beat 3-0.

Are you still going to hold on to your beliefs? If you seriously believe Torres' only problem was our system then you are a fool and there's literally no arguing with you Torres apologists who refuse to see how w@nk Torres was ever since he moved clubs, pining all the blame on everyone else but himself is absurd.

You can be the pinnacle of health and still be a sh*t player.

So few hours left of the transfer will Chelsea buy/loan another player?

Is there a need?

All wrapped up. The only thing waiting today was Chalobah's loan to Burnley. Otherwise, the Football League loan window is still open (for emergencies and short term loans iirc) so a few of our players that missed out today can and will be sent in the next few weeks.

Feruz gone to OFI Crete.
Blackman gone to Middlesborough.

Overall, I'm very happy with our activity this window- reasoned, purposeful and most of all, very low net spending compared to the changes we have made.

I think looking at the other big teams Chelsea has spent the best.
Good prices and invested in the actual positions we needed cover in. Not a single buy that does not make sense.

Well done to the team.

From the start, I said the Chelsea squad looks the best and will probably be the team to beat

Results are certainly showing that - I actually am excited to watch them play apart from my own team
