OFFICIAL HTC Desire Thread

Hi,

Can anybody send me a link to the map of South Africa for Co-pilot 8.2.0.218?

Thanks

So, I just took the plunge & installed the RCMixHD ROM from XDA - the Desire HD's ROM ported to the normal Desire - and I am incredibly impressed. Navigation seems to work, HTCSense.com is pretty damn nifty & everything on my phone looks so shiny again. However all that is just a preamble in order to post this little nugget from deep in the thread on XDA:

Yeast day, I flashed it to a number of mobile phones, now it will not because of his poor response to the optical switch track pad my dog salmon. Aunt my fist language English, I translated it to English is not good for me enemies of pea. Thank you so much more.

Google Translate FTW! :D

Hey guys, quick question before I start googling my eyes out... I am having a weird problem, every now and then (1 hour or so, depends) I try to unlock my phone and it has shut down while I was not doing anything and starts up.

I reeeeealy dont want to unroot my phone and send it in for them to check, so is there any way (like a windows event viewer type effect) that I can check what the hell is doing this to my phone? It started today, and the only thing I changed today is I installed WhatsApp and I have already tried uninstalling it.

Thanks?

EDIT: HTC Desire, Leedroid ROM that I have been running for 2 months (no version change or anything weird that I flashed)

I just turned off Background data and my battery life improved dramatically!

:)

Really pleased!

Hey all,

Looks like this is my first post here...wow okay lol.

Don't you need background data to be on to use the Android Market and mail etc?

I only use gmail, and I refresh that manually.

Turn on BG data when I need to access the market. Otherwise its off :)

Had exactly the same problem. Some research showed it might be the motherboard overheating. Have sent it back to HTC as it was really start to irk me (couldn't use it for anything taxing like GPS, internet, music, etc).

Its really weird, after my post it did not happen again... It seems fine now, but if it comes back and gets worse I will flash to stock and unroot before sending it in. Will check what it does for now, really want to avoid unrooting...

I had the same thing, the phone would also get quite hot at the bottom. it would reboot after a few minutes of using internet (apparently its to do with one of the antennas) which would why yours was aggravated by whatsapp

i was also running leedroid but dont think thats the cause of it because i did find other reports of it by googling.

anyway... i unrooted and stocked it and its now with leaf waiting for a new main board :( :(

OK I have the strangest problem but I think I might have done something to bring this on. When I answer my phone it goes directly to speaker it has been happening for the last 2 days. I have been through the settings but can’t see anything that I need to change to fix the problem. GUYS PLEASE HELP.

I had the same issue a while back. In my case it was caused by a combination of a custom ROM and a wonky car charger that would activate the car panel (http://t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcS6i3dj4V2l6enwmJgHQyNftFdmH2TMfsIkDjxBjjzmaQoEhDMiGA) whenever I plugged it in, but not completely disable it when I removed the charger.

Thanks. I turned mine off too and noticed that my exchange still sync and pushes mail automatically - as for gmail, too. So all good.

Thanks for the tip!
