Official HTC One thread

My HTC one got bricked after update, currently in @ voda for repairs :(

Did you try to update it or was it a OTA update? First time I heard of this

OTA.
After OTA, rebooted would not come on, tried charging it, hard resetting it nada. Currently at 3rd party repair ppl :/

Voda gave me loan phone, something from the 90's, eish takes me like 5 mins to type a sms.

What is this "SMS" you speak of? :P

Ass balls! The one bloody time I take the cover off, I drop it. Lovely cracked screen. What an absolute ball ache! Is Regernisis the only place that can fix it?

Did you come right with someone to fix your screen?

I didn't yet. I'm being stingy about the R2500 they want.

Amazing story, I was in the bush this weekend and my phone fell out of my pocket, off the landcruiser and onto the trail. I only realised about 30mins later and by that time we were into the game drive and it started pouring. And I mean 1.5hrs of hectic thunderstorm and massive downpour. We arrived back at the lodge and I announced my phone was gone.

About 30minutes later, a guy rocks up with my phone which he picked up out of the mud (how he spotted it is beyond me). Popped it into some rice for a day and now it works just fine. I'm still amazed. I mean, we had people freaking out because the storm was so severe.

Flashed the European RUU original HTC one software and it updated to 4.4.2 sense 5.5. No more Vodacom bloatware

Care to point us in the direction of the software, as well as instructions on how to do what you did?

Sure,

1stly - My HTC One is S-OFF. Some guides here :
http://www.htc1guru.com/guides/get-s-off/

I am also using the SuperCID :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317536

I used the decrypted RUU (RUU Zip M7_UL_JB_50_HTC_Europe_1.29.401.16_R_Radio_4A.14.3250.13_10.33.1150.01_release_318486_signed_2_4_decrypted.zip) from :
http://www.htc1guru.com/downloads/ruu-zip-downloads/

Bootloader must be locked, then follow the instructions on the site above :

Instructions:

Download the RUU.zip file and place in your ADB/fastboot folder. I would recommend renaming the zip file to something simple like ruu.zip.

Boot your phone into the bootloader by holding the power and vol up/down buttons at the same time until you see the bootloader screen or if you have your phone booted you can use the ADB command:

adb reboot-bootloader

Now use these fastboot commands:

fastboot oem rebootRUU

Should see the Silver HTC logo. Now issue this command to flash your phone using the ruu.zip file:

fastboot flash zip ruu.zip

Now the first time you issue a command to flash a firmware/ruu in fastboot it only prepares the flash. You have to issue the exact command again:

fastboot flash zip ruu.zip

The green status bar usually does not reach the 100% mark. When the output in the command window is complete, you can reboot:

fastboot reboot

Once completed you will need to do a few updates until you get to 4.4.2 Sense 5.5 :)
If you use the exact software I mentioned above, you should start off with 4.2. There is probably some RUU with 4.3 - but I didnt really look around for it.

Has anyone who upgraded to 4.3 noticed a decrease in camera quality. Especially at night it has a purple hue and struggles to zoom? Really annoying!!!!!!

Thanks, Rishalin. Much appreciated.

As an aside, I've already done the OTA update to 4.3 . I don't want to downgrade to 4.2.x just yet. I'll be patient and see how quickly (or not!) Vodacom give us 4.4 .

HTC offering free screen replacement.
http://mobile.theverge.com/2014/2/18/5421872/htc-will-replace-your-phones-busted-screen-for-free

But only in the US and phones bought from today.

We always side tracked

Sigh .... they need to treat all customers equally if they want to roll out something like that
they must make it available to everyone who has the phone. if they wanted a region specific
roll out they should have approached an external sp and done it through them but this just
makes them look like they trying to kiss ass with the wrong crowd

I doubt I'll upgrade to an HTC again. The fact they have zero after sales really irks me. They set up fb, twitter and reps all over the place to sell the phone and once we've bought it, they completely disappear.
