So Manure has joined Arsenal as a selling club......

So im hearing that Cristiano Ronaldo is being sold to Real Madrid for £80 million :O DAMMM!!!!! Are we going to miss him a lot? We have a pretty decent team and im sure we can survive without him hey?
anyways, with so much money we could buy our way up to the top ;)

Yes, buy your way to success, that's the most decent thing to do.

Look at Chelsea they did it it for a few years and what do you know they won a few Leagues and Cups, Great. I wish Liverpool could buy success.

Slur Alki has been doing just that for a good few years dude ,i give you a few examples

Veron 28m (record signing)
Rio 30m (still the most expensive defender in the world)
Rooney 28m (record signing for a teenager)
Carrick 18m (not even gonna comment )
Hargreaves 18m (sicknote nuff said)
Van horseface 19m (worth every penny)
Berbatov 31m  (another record signing)
Anderson 17m (the next scholes my @ss :D)
Nani 14m (the next ronaldo )

thats the only players i can think of at the moment off the top of my head ;)

that is a staggering 203m pounds on 9 players ,and people only accuse Chelski of buying success

Shame POOR liverpool..:D

funny thing is at least united get some more success than Liverpool. 2004-2009: Liverpool spend was 212M pounds and United: 221M pounds. So dont just quote ManU's spending as well when you want to 'compare' :)

dont have figures for Chelsea (must be more than liverpool and united) or Arsenal ( I think they've come out making money from transfers).

So Liverpool's "success" is homegrown, or are they just that bad at shopping? Just a friendly question nothing more... :D

Well put it this way Smokey, Our biggest signing to date is 21 million. Our progress has been over years having to do with the scraps (not all the time mind you). Chelsea in one or two years spend more than 200 million. That is what I am talking about. That's buying quick success. Simply put. It would be unfair of me to say that Man United fall under this as they have done it over more than 2 years in terms of big name signings. Real Madrid, Chelsea - buying success.

No smokey ,the point i tried to make was that chau said that they would now try and bye their way to the top ,I just clearly notified him that they had always bought their way to the top :D

on the liverpool issue we have never/could never compete with Manure/Chelsea in terms of transfers so no we especially under Benitez have punched above our weight ;)

Take Manure/Chelsea and Liverpools first 11 and see for yourself the gulf in transfer fees

and you say liverpool are bad at transfers :D

Benitez shoppings in the bargain isle and turns them into desirable players hence clubs like Juventus/madrid/barca come looking for our players

eg Mascherano no one was even contacting him when he was at west ham reserves:eek: Benitez saw the talent and he jumped at the chance to just play football again (now currently the best DM in the world):D Barca want him like crazy

Alonso signed for 9.5m (no one knew about this guy before he came to Liverpool heck he wasnt even a spanish intl ,now Madrd want to pay over the odds for him and he along with Pirlo are the best at what they do
Madrid and Chelsea interested (ancelloti is a big fan)

Sisoko : Benitez signed this unknown boy from Valencia a season latter Juventus came knocking and he was sold for a handsome profit :D

just some eg of how benitez has been turning so called average players into really good players ;)

Well then instead of buying so many of these part-time/average/whatever you want to call them players, rather buy a world class player. I mean all those players add up to so many millions, when you can cut out four players and spend on another Torres quality player. Just a thought in terms of how the transfer market has inflated lately and what impacts these world class players can have. :)

isn't that a problem with liverpool then? looks like a mill where you buy players and sell them at a profit? You should be buying players to win trophies and not make money from that. Having admirers from other clubs and fans is awesome but it hasn't bore any continued success from liverpool though I do think they have the bests chance of winning the league next season.

Oy vey...

@poolmania - Mate, sorry to say it, but you're blind. Money has always been a part of football. If you look at Liverpool's lifetime spending history versus that of Chelsea, I'm sure that Liverpool would have a much higher spend (adjusted for inflation of course). This whole "buying success" claptrap is just an excuse. Milan did not become legendary in the late 80's, early-to-mid 90's by being frugal.

Just look at the figues watsisname provided for 2004-2009.

Pool: 212 million
United: 221 million

Yet in that time, United have bought more class players than Liverpool. Fact. Twattish they may be (the players) but they oozed skill.

The fact that Chelsea had to make up for lost time by spending considerably more than United and Liverpool over the course of two seasons is not buying success. It's buying a team that is capable of performing at that level to which they aspired. Lamps & Cole were both on their way to SW6 before Abramovich came knocking. I don't think we overpaid for Cech (though he is bad now, he had three sterling seasons before that). 20 million for Drogba and the same for Essien has paid dividends many times over. It was money used well. Granted, not all the signings have been brilliant - but show me a manager with a flawless record and I'll show you a guy with the cheat code for life.

@guru-pitka - Dude... don't even try tell me that no-one knew about Masch. Bollocks. He just wasn't as highly rated at the time due to the existence of Makalele, Gattuso etc. He does what any other foreign manager does and uses his home countries better players "that no one knows about(in England)" and brings them to the club. Alonso and unknown? Please...The 21 million pounds he paid for Torres was in a lull in the transfer market where really big deals where not done. Do you really think he could have done that same transfer now? NO!

Deja Vu. Smokey, something tells we've been down this road. I disagree with you but we'll leave it at that.
