Was Moyes hired because he was Scottish? I just read an extract from Fergie's Autobiography:

"...They wanted a new man in place within days.

A lot of Scots have a dourness about them: a strong will. When they leave Scotland it tends to be for one reason only. To be successful. Scots don’t leave to escape the past. They move away to better themselves. You see it all over the world, in America and Canada especially. Leaving the homeland creates a certain resolution. It’s not a mask; it’s a determination to get things done. The Scottish dourness others talk about sometimes applied to me as well.

The Scotsman abroad doesn’t lack humour. David Moyes is not short of wit. In their jobs, though, the Scots are serious about their labours, an invaluable quality. People often said to me, ‘I never see you smile during a game.’ I would reply, ‘I’m not there to smile, I’m there to win the match.’

David had some of these traits. I knew his family background. His father was a coach at Drumchapel, where I played as a lad. David Moyes senior. They have a good family feel about them. I’m not saying that’s a reason to hire someone but you like to see good foundations in someone appointed to such high office. I left Drumchapel in 1957 when David senior would have been a young boy, so there was no direct crossover, but I knew their story."

Great penalty take by Borini though. Forgot this is a two leg affair. So it's basically 2-1 at halftime.

After yet another defeat in charge of Manchester United, it seems everybody is queuing up to stick the boot into the under-fire David Moyes.

And it’s not just supporters or the media either, with Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong even joining in on the Moyes bashing.

After yet another defeat in charge of Manchester United, it seems everybody is queuing up to stick the boot into the under-fire David Moyes.

And it’s not just supporters or the media either, with Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong even joining in on the Moyes bashing.

The Gunners youngster, who is well known for his controversial use of social media, posted up a ‘taxi for David Moyes’ picture on his Instagram just minutes after the defeat to Sunderland.

The mocked up picture showed Moyes trying to hitch a lift back to former club Everton.

It was removed shortly after going live – although not before plenty of fans could poke fun.

For the last 3 matches it looks to me like United players are not interested in making any off the ball movement... Januzaj stands around on the touch line along with Valencia waiting for a ball with a defender glued next to him... although Januzaj was the one trying to create space pull defenders out of position...

It feels like Moyes tactics of pass the ball around the middle at such a slow pace is a big problem... United has no creativity and the midfield was almost non existent - Cleverley was slow, sluggish and uninterested.
Giggs was almost in a CAM role yet he was standing next to Welbeck for half the match. Fletcher should have started instead of Cleverley.
Valencia looked tired and upset.
Evra's defending is shocking - the sooner he is benched the better.

Welbeck also looked tired and uninterested in the match.
 
Yellow peril! United face FA wrath after fans set off flares during Sunderland loss

Manchester United face punishment from the FA after their supporters lit flares during the 2-1 Capital One Cup defeat at Sunderland.
Flares were lit in the away end at the Stadium of Light, with some being thrown into a section of home fans.
The visitors won't have been cheering by the end of the match, however, which saw United succumb to a third loss in a week.
Hot on the heels of a Premier League defeat by Spurs and being dumped out of the FA Cup by Swansea, Fabio Borini's penalty consigned David Moyes' men to another loss after Nemanja Vidic levelled Ryan Giggs' own goal.
Moyes vented his frustration at the penalty, which saw Adam Johnson fall under pressure from United midfielder Tom Cleverley.
Moyes said of referees: 'We're having to play them as well as the opposition at the moment. It's really terrible, it really is.
'We're actually beginning to laugh at them, that's the thing.'

Yet after every loss Moyes says "We'll try our best to get the players ready for the next match." Next match comes and it's the same old schit.

There really isn't much else he can say in post match interviews. The fans were great, the guys played well, we came up short and will try better next time.

If he starts making excuses he'll be crucified for that. Not like he going to publicly berate his players. That would be less than helpful. Tought spot for the man.

I'm pretty sure that that pic did the rounds way before Frimpong put it on instagram. Now it's a somehow a story, because an Arsenal reserve team player also posted it.

Yep, big time. I have decided that I will stop supporting Manchester United as long as that hack's in charge. From now on, I will support Chelsea :D Well, not permanently because in my heart, I will always remain a Manchester United fan.
