Strange... I find the current United Manager, team and general performance very entertaining. Different strokes and all that :D

p.s. I expect a Man U win next Tuesday.

You can see even from highlights that it was anything but dour 1-0 wins, loads of come backs and last minute exciting wins. I think you mean 2007-08 when we won the double, not much different in terms of entertainment from last season imo.

Well done guys, that really was a good performance.

Giggs made such a difference in the middle. Dictated the tempo wonderfully and there was real "energy" about your performance.
 
That performance is nothing to be cheerful about - as Ryan Giggs put it - it's only one win. Nothing to cheer about - this is United the standard of the win is what United should be playing at. After 3 goals UNited reverted back to the usual Moyes style of play... sit deep with no midfield. His substitution, Young was pointlessly punting the ball up field.

Giggs was missing for large parts the game and his quick punt up field reached no mans land.

Why Moyes didn't replace Giggs with Fletcher, (why did he) take of Valencia to put Young on, play Welbeck on the left win are all very questionable.

Welbeck kept standing around for a good 90% of the time he was on the pitch, the 5% he occupied RVP's space and the other 5% he actually did something - his defending was lacking.

Evra - again didn't/couldn't track back and kept leaving the left side exposed. Luckily Olympikos didn't exploit that.

For the first half play the back 4 kept passing the ball to Rio and he would just punt it upfield - a few worked but most of the time we'd lose possession...

The second half when we were defending, Moyes kept urging the back four to push up... I'm assuming Rio told them not to as he was well aware United may get caught out...

IMO I feel Moyes is still inapt and not capable of coaching United.... he needs to move back to a smaller club and try with his "tactics" there...

He made a few good passes and gets stuck in at the start when fresh but he isnt gonna cut it against a decent MF - He was easily passed by the opposition and a better MF would have made us pay

I'd love to see Liverpool-style goal scoring going on, but I'd also gladly take a 12-month unbeaten run at home loaded with 1-0 and 2-0 scorelines.

Yeah, but that's not what we're saying. We're saying setting up defensively isn't the same as going out to attack. We have the capability to punish teams.

SAF definitely became more conservative in his old age, but by that time the style was ingrained in United either way, so defensive tactics didn't mean we sat back and waited, and they weren't the only tactics used.

I think that this is what you guys miss most this season- that unpredictability. SAF was not shy to experiment.

G.Neville made this type of point last night and i agree with it, United are far too rigid and organised with Moyes. Fergusons United often lost its shape on purpose which as you pointed out created a lot of unpredictability.

That's why we were so effective playing through the wings under SAF. We would drag teams all over the pitch and force them to lose composure.

Doesnt matter, cant really see us beating any of the other 7 teams anyway.
