Official SA iPad pricing undercut

The prices held out for a long time on the iPad, and as soon as the competition rushed in, things started to equalize, still expensive relatively speaking, but then again the other tablet options aren't exactly cheap either.

Apple invented the wildly popular ipad and iphone, significantly shaking up the handheld market. If it wasn't for apple pushing the boundaries everyone would still be satisfied with symbian and windows mobile 6 :P

Yeah like them or not they lead this revolution.

I've almost pressed the button a few times. No specific need, but hell it's probably worth it just for the gadget value. :) And an instant on home surfing device that must ergonomically be much better than a netbook sounds enticing. The price is looking really good.

Yes, the Samsung Galaxy Tab was/is ridiculously expensive, and that for a 7" tablet. Then again I didn't see too much aggressive bitching about it, I suppose it is because it wasn't Apple...

This makes sense considering Apple forced the iPad's price by $100 in the States, because of the imminent iPad 2 launch.
Cant wait for the iPad 2 though, there is nothing worse than having old Apple products :)

Yeah. the Galaxy Tab is insanely expensive! I'd be more tempted by an Android tab than Apple. Apple has worked hard, but I have never been a lemming. If someone gave me an iPad I would gladly take it and use it and use it a lot. But it costs way too much!

Why anyone still supports Core is beyond me.

why anyone still buy second hand apple products is beyond me,
why anyone will still buy second hand goods that cost the same or even more expensive than the new product is far beyond me.

Stocks.....they need to get rid of them. I would not call it undercutting though...

Still overpriced - checked a dude buy this at incredible corruption and explicitly told him iPad2 will be out soon but no he doesn't listen and bought the most expensive ipad :(

Apple are so good at marketing that I know I am being ripped off by them, know what I buy will be obsolete soon, and STILL buy! Damn they're good!

No .... not marketing....just a hype

Nah! it's 'cos nobody wants to buy it - why moan about the price if you have absolutely no intention of buying...

Not obsolete at all... The updates were incremental and I think you'll still get good value from an iPad 1 if you buy now. Apple keep you in the game with updates anyway. Well done Digicape.

PS. For all the Apple haters on MyBB, I couldn't help notice the "Win an Apple iPad 3G 64GB (MyBroadband Competition)" thread was already up to 21 pages...

Regardless of whether the iPad2 becomes available soon, I think this represents good value for money. The iPad2 wont make the first version obsolete, it just means that the iPad1 is now the *second-best* tablet on the market.

lol well said, the only thing i would want out of the ipad 2 is the faster CPU, the rest is a load of bull. Oh and the cover that steve was showing off is also pretty cool.
