Official SA iPad pricing undercut

I wish I could wait patiently to get one of these tabs (probably go for an Android one though) - the prices are just way too high right now. Can't see myself dropping all that cash for something that doesn't exactly offer a lot of value, yet. It is the wave of the future though, can't wait to see where the personal computing industry goes with these devices.

I want the iPad 2 and and iPhone 4 (have the iPhone 3GS). I dont need either, but I WANT THEM!

Damn you Apple and your marketing I cannot resist!

Dunno if anyone else has cross referenced the iPad 2 launch prices in the US with the Apple US iPad (1) prices. They match exactly?

"iPad 2 with Wi-Fi will be available on March 11 for a suggested retail price of $499 (US) for the 16GB model, $599 (US) for the 32GB model, $699 (US) for the 64GB model.

iPad 2 Wi-Fi + 3G will be available for a suggested retail price of $629 (US) for the 16GB model, $729 (US) for the 32GB model and $829 (US) for the 64GB model."

So your choice is to either get an iPad now or wait 18 days for the newest model for the same price (in the US at least)? I find the pricing model so weird. You would think they would cut the prices below the newer model.

Apple have cut $100 off the iPad price, in America, and given a $100 refund to some recent iPad buyers. The refurbished models are $150 off.

This is the surest sign yet that the global roll-out of iPad 2 is going to be much faster than expected.

If you are in the market for iPad, it's probably a good idea to get one sooner rather than later, since I doubt retailers will be getting any new stock once current supplies are gone.

I think we need to make money off this whole thing and start betting on the local release. My money is some time in November. Even with the iPad 2 I'm still not convinced, have iPhone 4 and Macbook PRO will wait.

My money is on the iPad 2 being released in SA just around the time the iPad 3 is released in the states

i wonder when ipad 2 will be officially distributed in SA.. lets hope it doesnt take as long as ipad did to arrive

People should probably hold of calling Apple's products overpriced until such time that a competitor to the iPad can offer an actual competitive product for less.

Sheesh, R3900 really isn't a bad price, though, like many others, I think I'm going to wait a while for the market to mature a bit more before I bite the bullet, or failing that, get a second hand iPad from a new iPad 2 owner. Apparently a staff member from Apple said that 2 wouldn't be such a big deal and that 3 would be the one to wait for, so I'm quite curious as to what they're going to do there.

It's all about iPad 2 now. Thinner, lighter, much faster. And remember an iPad 2 will only be $500.

and then ipad 3, 4, 5 and 6, but have to bite the bullet sometime, ipad 1 is awesome and I'm sure ipad 2 will be awesome, but will it have enough feautures to justify chucking the ipad 1 for the 2? I don't think so.

If you have an iPad then there's not really much point to upgrade to iPad 2.

If I'm not mistaken, the quoted US prices in the article exclude tax. I'm pretty sure I paid $690 or so for my iPad in San Francisco.

In other news, I'm getting my girlfriend to bring out the iPad 2 when she comes back from the US later this month! I think the addition of cameras make it totally worth it, and the dual core processor should future proof it for a while.

why would you need a camera on the ipad, unless you do video calling which i still find crappy with our internet speeds?

has any one seen the HTC FLYER now that looks like a nice toy. ipad shmypad (seriously though if some one gave me an ipad i wouldn't say no)
