Official SA iPad pricing undercut

This is a decent price for the iPad but I am quite curious as to when the iPad 2 will launch in SA and at what price. I have a suspicious feeling that core are only having these amazing prices because they knew the iPad 2 was coming out and all those that really wanted an iPad went and spent double the price on a grey import. Lol. So now they are trying to entice other users.

Way to go! I can't stand our limited competition in South Africa, try buying a new SLR camera and every single store you find will sell the product for the exact same price, down to the cents. I'm quite keen on an iPad but its amazing that you can only find them in Apple stores....

I cannot wait for the Galaxy Tab 2, I have the 1st one and it is a superb all-rounder. The larger screen will be a welcome improvement, particularly if you are a magazine reader which is where the iPad outdoes the Samsung.

Sure Apple products are overpriced... bla bla bla... fact of the matter is Apple has been Very innovative, Dare I say, Inventive in their thinking, they create a product, as useless as it may seem at first and turn it into a MUST have item for anyone. Their marketing is superb, the build up to almost any of the conferences is always anticipated, and they never seem to disappoint with innovation every year.... I have an android device, been using it for over a year and love it 10 x more than my iPhone, yet i am always intrigued by apples products. competitors ma have a far superior product, but they don't market it as aggressively as apple, and neither do they support them as good...

ahh well said, Yes, Apple's whole way of going at it is just so much more effective than the rest. Both my wife and I are upgrading in June, I really want an Android phone, and she'll go for the iPhone, but I STILL want the iPad. The Xoom looks very cool, but why is some of the features disabled?? Ai this is hard - but still, exciting times with the price drops and more competition, would love to see where this is going!

and more realistic pricing too! Not "apple" pricing!

Interesting. The entry-level iPad is now less than twice as expensive as the entry-level iTouch. It's almost tempting, just to have one, but I think I need to upgrade my PC first before I get another digi-toy...

Can't wait for iPad 2. Don't think it will be too long a wait. Why are all the local sellers dropping their prices?? Think about it...

Digicape sells parallel imports, ie not through officially sanctioned local apple representatives. They basically buy in the US and sell locally at a margin. This means that they will be selling the iPad 2 way before Core or anyone else in the country. The iPad 2 launches in the States soon and I assume DigiCape will make them available here within a month or two of the US release. Buying parallel imports before was a problem before, becuase you had no recourse should the thing pack up. This all changes on the 1st of April with the consumer protection act. Think I will wait until the CPA kicks in and get a "grey" iPad 2, that comes with back up.

Correct, with the CPA the risk passes from the buyer to the seller BUT surely the likes of DigiCape will either have to discontinue this practice or increase their margins to minimise their increased risk exposure

Just like to point it, it appears its not Digicape, but Core that slashed their prices (that or Core reacted damn fast). You can confirm by going to the Core website.

The US prices listed on the table are inaccurate (by $100 on each model).
