Official Samsung Galaxy Note (N7000) Thread

I thought I had posted here for the official / non branded ICS rom ... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1659308

Did this two weeks ago (and I was running 2.3.6 non rooted). Went seamlessly, Now Rooted with ICS 4.0.3. I still chomp through my battery pretty quickly, but I leave wireless & BT on permanently. I tried a battery optimiser that reset the battery stats, seemed good for the first week.... will have to see if overall it helps over long term. Rooted is a must!! then you can run anti advert software!!!

so I got my otg cable for R25... and it works.... freakin awesome. Which anti advert software do you use?

I am rooted but still not sure if Avast is needed... maybe it could be the cause of my battery drain.

Have you looked a BetterBatteryStats to tell you if you have something keeping your phone awake.
Also try : flight mode ON, power off, battery out for 20 secs, restart and flight mode off.

This has worked for me on a few occasions.

My battery does the same thing from time to time. It's quite strange, some days it lasts very well on standby and some days it drains very quickly. When I check battery usage it says my screen used most of the battery; which it can't be since the phone's screen is off all night.

Also have avast on, but like I said, it only drains sometimes and other times it lasts very well. Maybe ICS will fix this. Also waiting for the stock rom.

Battery usage won't tell you if you have wakelocks, and ICS has the same (if not more) problems.
Check with SetCPU if you are going into Deep Sleep. If not then BetterBatteryStats might identify the culprit.
Also, always unlock your screen before unplugging your charger. Strange, but it works.

lol.... mouse, no thanks, neither kb... flash drive? maybe. From a development point of view could be handy for sum custom applications / hardware... but other than that... no need for it imo...

BTW.... Best file explorer I have ever used: FX File Explorer! Try it guys ... nice!!!

Can anyone confirm which modem the Note comes with locally (on Gingerbread)? I didn't write it down before I loaded ICS.

Currently on KingDroid with Franco v4 kernel and LPT modem, and loving it.

I've now tried three modems and I can't detect any difference in signal for network or Wifi.
Anyone else fiddled with modems and found something better?

On my GS2 I always flashed modems. On my Note not once :) I just use the stock one that comes with a ROM. If I see one that offers a significant improvement then I will.

I beleive staff/friends of samsung in jhb have official ics on there notes :(

The Stunner ICS team recommends the LP5 modem. (or LP6). The link is on their XDA thread, I downloaded it from there...using it, no problems. Didn't have any problems before, anyway.
