I believe so, yes. If GPS is off, Latitude will still try to locate you based on cell tower ranging, so it'll still wake the phone up.

Cracked screen
I recently dropped my note and the screen is now cracked. I need info on how much it might cost me and were to go.

sorry to hear that 2010fiesta, not sure where you would get it repaired.
So to remedy my battery woes... i flashed the latest ics stunner.... charged to 100% last night, took off charger... went to sleep and bam 8 hours later the battery is at 98% YES PLEASE... and its a beautiful rom.. running it at 200dpi tablet mode. love love it.
Well use it for at least a week and then try another popular rom until i am sure which one suits me best.
I am having a problem with MIB 3 and trying to connect to a social service within the game it keeps saying fb has encountered a error. But this used to work fine on the stock gb. So i wonder what the problem is.

Currently giving the rom Android Open Kang Project a try, quite a nice rom. I tried RocketRom but me and TouchWiz just do NOT get along anymore; not after experiencing the awesomeness that is vanilla ICS

I wanted to start from scratch again and see if the wakelock issues are completely eliminated, so far so good. Just need to monitor any new apps that I install.

yip i have the 0x19 chipset just much sure you flash stock gb or abyss kernal before flashing to a custom rom and you will be fine...

I Used dr.ketans guide for ICS ... now not sure exactly how to go back to stock GB, and what currently.... Frack, MIUI was so much easier with CWM on my old desire ....

geez guys i'm desperate for a galaxy note to use as my phone/handy wi-fi browser (neeeeeed to ditch my BB), but i have no idea what you're talking about here - rooting, ROM, kernel, stunner (?), gingerbread, ICS - will i have to learn that stuff? or what are you using your note's for? i thought i was marginally PC literate but this is like speaking chinese. do the same terms apply to the galaxy SIII or is that easier?

We are basically customizing the kak out of our devices. You absolutely don't need to do it.

yea maumau, Mike is spot on.... Just us boyz being boyz, we dont believe in that "if it aint broke, dont fix it". I had my note and tab for about an hour before I rooted them both!! lol. But seriously you dont really need to, it works great with the stock rom, plus ICS will be pushed legit pretty soon....

that's a relief - i'm off to the samsung store in clearwater now to check them out. "ICS will be pushed legit pretty soon...."
Lol... What he means is the next version of Android (Ice Cream Sandwich) will be available soon directly from Samsung. IE: Not custom like we are doing.
User the phone as it is when you get it. When the official ICS comes you just update your phone and remain stock.
It won't be long though and you will be hunting down the how to parts of this thread and XDA
It would be nice if there was some way to have a consolidated post with a list of how to's, etc on the first page of the thread. It's a massive ball ache to trawl thru the whole thread to find how to root and what we need to be aware of and be careful of if rooting and going with a custom ROM. Just saying...
