OT

@Mike: Can you recommend a good "close to stock" ROM for the S II (not for me), or were you always running CM9/AOSP ROMs?

CheckROM is the King pin of the GS2 Rob. That along with the Siyah kernel is a huge win.

EDIT: No, CM9 had become my latest favorite. On my GS2 I used CheckROM mostly. Awesome ROM.
Nowadays when I flash my mates GS2s I go CM9 though. Just a current preference. Think I will put CheckROM on my wifes GS2 tomorrow :)

Hey Mike,

any further comment on my lovely battery life? Today... unplugged from charger at 100% this morning at 8am... 9am haven't used the phone at all... 90%.... 9:51am played mib3 for like 5 mins.... 80%....
 
Are you guys worried about the eMMC "hard-brick" bug that the guys on XDA have discovered that is apparent on most ICS kernels except CM9 and Asylum?
 
with ics stunner are you using 4.0.4 or 4.0.3? also does otg work with it and the s-pen?

Did you wake your screen and unlock your phone before unplugging the charger?

Initially I was quite worried, but after some reading I realised that it only really affects those that try to full wipe on an infected kernel. I haven't needed to do a full wipe (still on the latest Stunner) so I'm more relaxed now. Even flashed a few zips from recovery and no hard brick yet. If ever I need to do a full wipe, I'll just flash Abyss 4.2 and then do the wipe.
 
yip i did unlock before unplugging... still think that is crazy... Why does it have this problem? I love android but what a mission... never had these problems with my iphone.

Also with regards returning to factory settings...

I have rooted stock gingerbread 2.3.6 with 2.6.35.14-ver4.2 abyssnote@angelom-K50IN#3 kernal.

I would like to try out ics stunner or another rom. Preferably ones that OTG and S-Pen works..

What would be the easiest method to backup my data and apps and flash to another rom?

I live in durban if anyone is keen on showing me one on one...

Just about all the kernels have been patched to resolve the issue, but I still recommend going back to Abyss before doing any wipes, just to be 100% sure.
 
My Note's battery was also running down a bit too rapidly for my liking and I traced it to the wakelock issue that's been mentioned here.

One other tip apart from waking the phone before unplugging it from the charger is to sign out of Latitude in the Maps application. Because Latitude automatically checks your location from time to time, it wakes the phone up to do that. If you don't use Latitude, sign out of it.
I've done that and in the past couple of days, I've noticed that from unplugging the Note in the morning at +- 6am and then checking it at around 1 or 2pm, the battery will only have gone down to about 85%. This is only with light usage though, 1 or 2 short calls and about 10-15 mins of web browsing and simple gaming.

My GPS is constantly off, will latitude still be signed in?
