yip i know kingdroid and rocketrom are ics roms... even if you have stock rooted ics roms you still do that same method to flash a different rom... flash abyss first then wipes then new rom...

Never flash from ics based from to another rom without flashing abyss first just in case.

Ok, now it's sounding a bit more plausible... First flash the stable a safe kernal, wipe in recovery, then flash new rom.....

Has any of you noticed or experienced very bad download speeds from Sammobile...? My Kies is telling me I don't have internet connection, and that I stink..... So now I'm rather going to download the firmware file on it's own... Then flash with Odin.... But, I'm getting at best 19kb/s.... It says it's still got 9hrs to go.... Yet, at the same time, I'm downloading a different version of Kies and will try something new, that's downloading 3-4 times faster the the firmware....? You guys also experience slow connections from Sammobile...?

speedmod is giving me amazing battery life... and its snappy... I would make a nandroid backup and give it a try. if you dont like then just flash abyss (safe gb kernel) and restore nandroid.

Question: If one uses that guide posted by dr.kentan, does one have to use the ZSLPF rom that he linked in he's post, or can you use any stock ICS rom...?

AFAIK, any works, a lot of guys used the UK release rather than the linked Taiwan version. I Used the Taiwan ver, just had to change language to English on setup...

Ok, sounds good. But if you go from GB to ICS, does one have to load the Abyss kernal before flashing through Odin or just dive straight in...?

I went from stock / non rooted GB Note and used the guide as is... it will root & load ICS for you... I didnt use abyss or speedmod, was 100% stock when I started. I will probably try speedmod soon..

Ok, rooting ICS isn't hard at all, just need to use recovery for that... 2minutes work, and it's safe... I've already got the files needed.... From what I understand reading through the guide, is that you will flash the ROM, then go into recovery to root and bob's your sister.... Simple process, I did it a million times on my S2....

Well, interesting reading now, but like memphis32, I wanted to just flash a stock rom and stay there for the foreseeable future.

My concerns arose because everyone talks about flashing a custom rom from Abyssnote, but I was looking for info about flashing stock from Abyssnote and I couldn't find it. I do find references saying you can't flash ICS from Abyssnote because it is a GB kernel, which confuses me greatly because I'm running CM9 on it which an ICS 4.0.4 rom. These differences are killing me and reading round in circles becomes a bit much.

Regardless, it seems like it was Go Launcher which was causing the lag on my Note even though it ran flawlessly on my S2. I got Nova last night as recommended by Mike a few pages back and holy moly, what a speed machine this phone has become. It is beautifully smooth and you can almost feel the power of the phone jumping out at you. No need to flash anything or change any more. CM9 and Nova are definitely a keeper for me.

Nova Launcher is pretty awesome, completely customizable.... just takes a bit of effort to set up everything the way you like.

Small question...: Is sammobile with hotfile the only place to get stock roms...? Seriously...? It's saying my download on LA4 is going to take 20-24hrs to complete at 8-12kb/s......? No way can I wait that long for 600mb to download......

Are there any other places to get the stock roms from...? I'm struggling here with Kies, saying I don't have internet access when I try install the latest version I downloaded this morning....

You could get a hotfile prem acc, downloaded mine the other day in about half hour on the free one.

No matter where else you may find it you will still end up downloading it via a filesharing service and I know Internet Solutions shapes the living daylights out of those during the day.

I'd looked at it before on the S2 and decided I preferred Go, but I took the time last night and yeah, it's very nice and I just can't get over the speed and smoothness of it. I'm defo keeping this one :)

I've got a prem account on their site... Using dap my current speed is 11.4kb/s..... This never used to happen on the S2 ROMs from the same site.... :wtf:
