Official Samsung Galaxy Note (N7000) Thread

its gettin confusing, all the xda theads I read were against using CWM for flashing when using stock ICS kernels ? (eMMC bug) I dunno, maybe only for if it was gonna try to a factory reset / wipe ?

My Freakin Old HTC Desire was soooo much easier, using MIUI ...

Does anyone have Plants vs Zombies installed on their Note?

I bought the app for my S2 but tried to install it now on my recently acquired Note, but it says it is incompatible. I think it may be because I'm in Senegal using an Orange sim because all of the EA games report the same incompatibility, but I'd love to know if anyone else has it just to make sure.

How do i setup my vodamail account on the Note? Sorry, tried the usual pop3, but cannot get it running.

Thanks

I think the easiest option might be to load Abyss kernal on GB ROM, wipe data, flash ICS Stock ROM, flash Abyss kernal or SpeedMod kernal... From what the threads on XDA says, it's the kernal that's the problem, and SpeedMod and Abyss seems to be on the "Safe" list... That will then keep you in the clear if you need to reset or wipe....

I dont know about flashing straight from speedmod... Just to be safe reboot into recovery flash abyss advance reboot recovery 3 wipes flash new rom then reboot...

Can I flash Abyss while on my current rom? And can I use Mobile Odin Pro? to do it....

My current setup:

Prior to Speedmod With Speedmod

With Speedmod

Ok ... bit the bullet, followed @Random's steps:

not sure if you guys have indeed read of the posts for your relevant rom that you want to flash.

The procedure for most roms to flash is to reboot in recovery...
1. Make nandroid backup if you want.
2. Flash Abyss Kernel
3. Advance - Reboot Recovery
4. 3 Wipes
5. Flash rom...

Its really as simple as that.

I used Abyss Note 4.2 Kernel & ParanoidDroid, flashed gapps, installed Triangle away, removed triangle .... sweet .. very similar to my Tab 10.1 now!

And it worked...? I'm reading up on one thread on XDA, seems that Samsung is working on a fix for the GNote chip, and will most probably release safe kernals to use with your firmware. It's either that, or they'll release a fresh set of Stock ROMS that will be updated and safe....

most of the cm9 kernels that are in circulation are safe. I am glad it worked IRG.

Paranoidandroid is amazing... Just currently testing Kingdroid v3 at the moment. The only thing i miss from paranoidandroid is the allshare function but maybe I can do that with it...

Yeah, its all working 100%, dont have the custom kernel flash counter anymore, shows as orginal (thanx to Chainfire for that "Triangle Away" app). Took me about 10 minutes to flash abyss, wipe X 3, flash Paranoid, flash gapps and setup all my apps and synchronise gmail account stuff....

Is it just me, or is the official GB 2.3.6 firmware for SA the exact same as the Turkey firmware...? Having a look on SamMobile, it's the same PDA and CSC.... Meaning when we finally get ICS, it will be the XXLPY/OJVLP6 (PDA/CSC) firmware....?

hi guys

I posted in my thread I created, but I figured my question might get some attention here rather... Seeing as it IS the note thread.

Im currently getting email through my gmail account using the gmail app. Im also getting mail from my exchange server + sync calendar.

I think the gmail app is not NEAR as nice as the standard mail app on the phone.

Im hoping that I would be able to clear out the gmail app and delete that account. Get my gmail coming into the standard mail app, and then delete my exchange server mail (but keeping the contacts syncing)

is this even possible?
