Official Samsung Galaxy Note (N7000) Thread

I'm sure your Gmail mail can run through the stock mail application.... It will run through Social Hub IIRC.... Not sure how you'd clear the Gmail app though....

hi guys

I posted in my thread I created, but I figured my question might get some attention here rather... Seeing as it IS the note thread.

Im currently getting email through my gmail account using the gmail app. Im also getting mail from my exchange server + sync calendar.

I think the gmail app is not NEAR as nice as the standard mail app on the phone.

Im hoping that I would be able to clear out the gmail app and delete that account. Get my gmail coming into the standard mail app, and then delete my exchange server mail (but keeping the contacts syncing)

is this even possible?

Just disable mail sync for gmail.

Has anyone tried k9 mail yet.Personally think it the best mail app available. .and its free  it has much more features than stock e mail app.

ok, just so you know... I got push notifications working on my gmail account. Seems to be quite a popular topic after I did some googling.

I have my outlook calendar syncing (no email), and then syncing my gmail using the stock app. All working 100%

Now Im trying to organise my screens. I think my main screen needs to be as clean as possible, but I need my calendar on there. I would also like to change my default icons but sheesh I have no idea how to do that lol :o

learning slowly. its crazy what you can do with this device compared to iOS

Thats the difference between Android and iOS, you can do pretty much whatever you want on Android.

I suppose you have background data turned on, with auto-sync active as well... Just remember, it will eat your battery charge much quicker this way. I haven't compared battery life on the Note to the S2 yet, but I'm thinking it will be better under the same conditions....

I have background data on. The only account with auto-sync on is my calendar and whatsapp. the rest are off.

I will be keeping an eye on my battery thanks.

I have a question. I installed battstatt widget, but it sits to the one side of the screen... I want it to sit in the MIDDLE but it seems like I cant have that, so its either to the left or the right! :(

I believe most apps available is set to are not able to be re-sized in the way you thinking. I'm not too sure, maybe someone can enlighten us on that. But I read somewhere that it's all about the icon arrangement settings of the home screens. I believe the Note uses the 5x5 arrangement, and the app is question is a 3x1 icon, which means it's only left or right side of the screen...

AFAIK you can change the layout to how many segments there are on a screen. Nova Launcher definitely can set it.

On ParanoidAndroid Rom you can set the grid size in the settings > launcher > homescreen

it even has the ability to resize any widget...

Pretty much any non-stock launcher has the "resize widget" function. I have some 4x1 widgets that I resize, essentially it just adds blank space behind most of them but it does give it the centered appearance which is fine for me.

One of the reason why I love Nova Launcher... But, I will wait for Samsung to release ICS for the Note for SA before I flash, I'm still like GB lots.... Also, I can't wait to try ICS on the Note, it worked lovely on my S2... Tell me quick, some users on XDA are reporting the GB was/is more stable and snappier that ICS.... And that battery drain was a big issue... Can any on you confirm this...?

I genuinely didn't see much of a difference.... Both my stock GB and Stock ICS had same issues (wife still on 2.3.6 - she also has same issues I had) I'm loving Paranoid at the moment... no lockups at all yet!

Same here, battery seems to last about the same but my device is definitively allot smoother :)
Running stock ICS though

You need to change/set the SMSC number. Which network are you with?

Dial *#*#4636#*#*

Select "Phone Information"

Scroll down until you see "SMSC:"

Press "Refresh"

Enter one of the following:
Cell C: 07917248010000f0
Vodacom: 059172281992
MTN: I don't know :p

Press "Update"

Press "Turn off radio" and wait about a minute

Press "Turn on radio" and wait about a minute

Done.

Well now my Signal doesn't dissapear, but still wont send?

@Efitol, in those settings my phone is on WCDMA preferred, should I not set it to GSM only?
