Official Samsung Galaxy Note (N7000) Thread

How do I get Vodacom to push me sms / mms settings?

EDIT: NM ...
To send and receive an MMS, you'll need an MMS-enabled cellphone.
Download the settings for FREE, from your Vodacom cellphone and follow these steps:
Dial *111#
Select OK or press the 'call' button
Choose the number next to ‘Device Setup’
Pick option 3: MMS
A configuration SMS is sent to the number dialled from
Save the settings
Your cellphone is MMS-enabled and ready to send

Well now my Signal doesn't dissapear, but still wont send?

@Efitol, in those settings my phone is on WCDMA preferred, should I not set it to GSM only?
What network are you on? WCDMA preferred is fine, as long as you have a network signal where you are.

need MTN... also cant send sms...
Let's see what uncle google says...

What have you got ?

settings > more > mobile networks settings > APN?

I have Vlive & Vodacom ZA (internet).... I did the mms push from vodacom, got an sms, but no settings?

BTW that number didnt make a difference, neither changing GSM - WCDMA

Also have vlive and internet.

Stupid question but, do you have airtime? I had the same issue on my Galaxy Tab 10.1v and it turned out my SIM wasn't provisioned for sending SMS's.

lol .... plenty I'm on a talk 500 with over 1000 min available (business contract)

This is only since flashing Paranoid

Another stupid question, did you try turning it off and on again?

weird kak this ... truly. Rebooted my phone, lost the settings you gave me (under phone information), I can see the radio turning itself on and off.... put in the number, sms goes through in the background, continue with the steps as you said and exit. Try send another sms .... fail? did this twice now?

I give up .... new RoM anyone? lol .. or I'll just use Whatsapp exclusively (which i do any way)

When you say "lost the settings", you mean SMSC was blank even after hitting "Refresh"?

This is weird, did 3 devices so far without issues.

Only after rebooting the phone. If i go in now its still there... I was not very clear there sorry, I updated the smsc 2 times and it sent the sms before I switched the radio off.

We need a poll on whats the best ICS Rom ...

I'm stumped. No reference to this issue in the XDA thread?

so u cant send sms on paranoidandroid v0.4a? sorry about that... also never checked that as I dont send sms nemore.

Rocketrom is pretty decent. install v6 supercharger with it. Battery lasts along time. using the cf-root kernel.

Kingdroid v4 has just been released.

I'm getting somewhat gatvol with Android and the roms. I've had a number of bad experiences with roms on my P7500 (AOKP build 39 and 40 and one of the CM ones) and on my Note I'm running the official UK ICS rom that has some quirks of it's own - not to mention the serious drop in battery life. THEN I battle like hell to get nightlies downloaded from CM and AOKP and any if the firmware on the Samsung firmware site. Tried without any success for two days now ... can't get a thing.

All this because of OEM's that struggle to get ICS out when JB is already out. I love Android and would love to go the Nexus route but the whole Android ecosystem experience is getting less and less attractive by the day. Bugs ... bugs ... bugs ... just so that we can enjoy what Google released long ago. Battles to get any decent accessories like docking stations. Philips has brought out some Android docks but that's not nearly as many as one can get for Apple. Same situation with almost any accessory you want.

One can't help get the feeling the too many variants of Android devices/designs make it a very unattractive market for accessory manufacturers. Pity. I just made my own stand from wood for my P7500 to work in landscape seeing that the charging/usb/etc socket sits at the bottom and one needs space for the adapter. All stands that I've seen works for iPad where the socket sits on the side when working in landscape.
