Then either they having problems, telkoms having problems, ur isp is having problems, or you being shapped.
 
Ok, plan.... I can download it at home, but I only have about 650mb left on my 3G speedstick(no, I don't have and don't want a data contract. I live in a flat, so no land line....), so this means I can only download one ROM.... LA4 2.3.6 rom, or UK 4.0.3 ICS ROM....? But just remember, I've only had this phone since last week Friday...? Now which do I go for.... ? Stay safe and within warranty or stuff that, and the 7-day return policy and flash ics ROM..... :confused:

I had mine since last week Monday and flashed the UK ICS 4.0.3 using Odin last week Tuesday. Got it Monday, ran the battery flat, charged it overnight and flashed it.
 
If I may ask, why did you run your battery flat....?

Also, did you flash the UK/Ireland rom or the UK/Carphone rom....? I've got AbyssNote kernal 2.6.35.14-ver4.2 installed on the phone already.... Is there anything else I'll need before flashing...? And did you follow the guide to the letter on XDA...?

I too read something like this a while back, and they did also mention clearing the battery stats in recovery... Well, that was for a S2, so I'm not sure how relevant that would be for the Note....:confused:
 
Nothing to do with running it flat after ROM change, with a phone your first charge cycle needs to be a full cycle to unlock all the cells.
With every new phone you run the battery flat, 0%, then do and overcharge, min of 8 hours. After that you follow the standard 80/20 rule with the monthly full run down cycle.
 
arrrrr ... did speedmod successfully, but I got the stupid yellow triangle.... Will have to read up on getting rid of it (but really only if i need to send it in - so not really worried;))
 
I too was looking at speedmod kernal. I'm not really worried about a triangle, as i hardly ever reboot my phone, so it doesn't bother me in the slightest. I've got the UK ICS download running, should be done by about 19h30-20h00.... I've got the XEU version downloading... Anything else besides Abyss kernal that I'll need before flashing...?
 
I heard on the reviews of the app that in certain instances it doesn't remove the said triangle.....
 
I downloaded it, it picks up the correct model phone but is unable to determine the "Current Status" and says it needs to boot into "a special bootmode" which does nothing if you click it ? mmm ... well I dont mind the Triangle, its only for warranty crap anyway!

Interesting read, completely contradicts with an article I read that gave my original conclusion, but seems sound. Seems to indirectly confirm that charging off USB as apposed to mains is also a good idea.
Not entirely sure what "Avoid charging a battery faster than 1C; a more moderate charge rate of 0.7C is preferred." means but I do know usb charges slower with less power and ultimately cooler that what mains does, this I have tested myself. Software apps can tell you temps but the simple fact of touching the battery when its above 90% will make it obvious enough.

There are many contradictory stories about charging and discharging lithium batteries, I know in the case of laptops running it off mains with the battery connected is a bad idea, know for a fact that it greatly reduces the life-expectancy of said battery especially with some of the elderly that actually use a laptop as a desktop.

This source does look more credible than the others, re cellphones, but ultimately I get a new phone every year so unless I basterdise my battery I have little to worry about no matter how I charge it.

The discharge cycles are probably left overs from the magnesium batteries.

I also read a while back about the 2 different types of Lithium batteries used, the one being the Li-Io and another, cannot remember its periodic symbol, the one operated better with the occasional complete discharge, recommended once a month in conjunction with the 20/80 rule, I know this was true for the iPhone 3. The other worked well and was perfectly happy with any form of charge/discharge cycle and obviously both preferred less heat.

If I charge via USB on a PC or my laptop it charges very slowly, If I use the stock charger its a bit faster, but if i use my Tab 10.1 charger (runs 2A vs 1A) it charges really fast. I have not noticed a difference in discharge time using either.

According to my brothers, both electronic engineers, the handset will only pull the current it needs, as long as the voltage is correct. (but I must add that my Tab 10.1 will not charge off a 1A charger)

yip i used triangle away and no longer have a triangle and reset my flash counter... just curious how you got a yellow triangle while flashing a kernel? Did you do root at the same time?

As far as I know flashing a kernel shouldnt bring the yellow triangle if you are using cwm recovery or modile odin pro...

With regards to ICS rom I am currently using Kingdroid v3 with S3 add ons... havent had much time to play with it but it is a stable rom with good performance and battery life.

Something like that ya, usb charging started as more of a convenience seeing as I work in front of a pc 10 hours a day.
 
ok. I thought cwmr comes with root? if so you dont need pc odin to flash kernels... just use cwmr but in the mean time use triangle away from chainfire... to get rid of the triangle
