Official Samsung Galaxy Note (N7000) Thread

I Have just ditched PA 3.15.
Installed Alliance ROM yesterday and giving it a bash.

What other JB Roms is anyone trying out here?

Further to my post above, been monitoring the battery life today and it seems pretty decent.
Today with the phone on for about 7 hours been getting usage of about 1.5% per hour.
Mostly gmail and what app with a few minutes phone calls.

Also been monitoring the Ultimate ROM thread on XDA - and it seems they have now included the option of loading a speedmod kernel, and users have been reporting excellent battery usage. One poster reported life of 3 days, whilst another commented that with wifi, 3g and sync on he managed 40 hours standby with 41% battery still left.

Seriously tempted to try it out - pity Alliance has its own kernel - so may need to switch roms.
Only thing its a bit of a schlep the whole process.

Sounds positive. :)

I still can't see myself moving away from the PA rom. Poor battery life or not :D

Very happy with Pa, battery life may not be 3 days, but it's still better than Sammy stock and I love hybrid, not about to choose another rom unless it has hybrid too.

Custom dpi for about 3 dozen of my apps to tune them just perfectly for me and totally Maximize real estate.

Hey can anyone tell me if this is compatible with N8000W

Dude, its a fitted case, of course it wont work. They keyboard itself will work yes, but it's likely attached to the case and not standalone capable.

They do make such cases for the note 10, a friend has one, but a fitted case is a fitted case.

Do you still have your Note's - or have you upgraded to Note 2 or S4?

Anyway just wanted to find out if you have been monitoring XDA off late - there has been a succession of new roms.

I have had X-Rom running on mines for close to a week now - and it is really quick and stable.
3 different multiwindow types as well as variable dpi's and ui's.

What are you guys using?

Thanks, will keep that rom in mind! Using CarbonRom 1.7, fairly stable, but I would suggest to others to rather look at other ROM's...

How did you get 4.1. Over the air and via Kies desktop gives me current version is up to date?

Must of been OTA as I have never installed that Kies trash, possibly does also exist I just got one from another country. I got my note from FNB so the warranty is help with Samsung directly who does not care what official rom you use as long as its official, unlike vodacon, emtn and all the rest.

That sucks, Mine is also from FNB. Will have to do some investigation and see why my update is not happening!

Still your network provider, they still effectively dictate which OTA update comes to your phone.
Difference is when you get your phone on contract your warranty is with your network provider first then with Sammy, if its with FNB or cash then its directly with Sammy. Now your network provider can void your warranty for using a ROM they did not approve of, even if you with vodacom and get an MTN rom. Sammy on the other hand only cares as far as its an official rom, they are indifferent to network or geographical location.

So when you and your phoen are with vodacom you get a vodacom rom when you are with vodacom and your phone its with sammy then do what everyone else does and get the german rom, its the one Sammy updates first, once you odin that on you will get OTA updates as soon as Germany does, which again is the first country Sammy updates.

You can get them from sammobile.com.

I can't wait for a 4.3 flavored PA rom. Right now poor battery life is my only gripe.

I see there is 4.3 AOSP release for the Xperia Z out already. No radio at the moment, so it's still very beta.

Help needed!

Do any of you use an external sd card, with success? Ie no freezes due to it, it doesn't give any errors? Which brand and speed and size?

I use a Transcend 32gb but it doesn't work no matter what format I use. I have been trawling the internet for a solution but can't find any.

Thanks in advance :o

I had a problem like that when I had ordered a 32gb of ebay, the sd card was fake. It was a hacked 4gb, so whenever the phone tried to write past 4gb it just k@k3d.
My 32GB sandisk worked quite fine as does my 8GB.
