Official Samsung Galaxy Note (N7000) Thread

Sorry guys I have a stupid question.
I have had a Blackberry for years and getting tired of the Bis issues with vodacom etc. I am considering a note, question is the data usage a lot extra a month I am used to paying R59/m for Bis, if on Android will it use data for facebook etc or can I turn that off like the galaxy tab???
 
You can turn all the "syncing" apps off just like on the galaxy tab, i have the mymeg 250 and it costs me R99 per month and i usually have between 50-80mb left each month

Edit: You can get a free app like My data manager to track your data usage aswell ;)

If you can use wifi at home and work then your data costs will be quite low. Without it really depends on how and what you use your phone for. You can use apps like Opera Mini to compress web pages for browsing, if you don't do a lot of attachment downloading then e-mail and instant messaging will cost next to nothing.
 
A question! I have a 10" galaxy tab and am considering selling it and getting the note, the question I have is I currently am able to download pictures via the usb adapter from my camera to the tab, would I be able to download pics from my camera to the note? Would the usb adapter work is it possible?
 
It does have the same USB on the go function (I assume you have the right cable), but I don't know if all of the same devices would be supported (my guess is they probably are). Perhaps try to find a store with a live model so you can test it out.
 
I am now a proud owner of a new Galaxy Note - so where to begin.. where is the getting started with android - linky linky.

Where can I still locate some accessories for my device - screen protector and recommended cover.

Did you buy it cash or on contract? And from which operator?

The first thing you should do is download Kies from the Sammy site and update your phone's firmware.

Not really sure about covers and such, I got mine from Cell C and it came with a free flip cover and that's good enough for me for now.

Once you've gotten the hang of Android and want moar, I shall introduce you to XDA :cool:

Loving my new Note!!! Its awesome, got and update when I got home today from the shop, 33mb...
 
It's nice to see more people getting Notes, maybe this thread can become more active now :o
 
@zakdoc89: I have seen an app on XDA as well as some ROMs that have solved that problem. (notification LED)

Can someone tell me if there is any kind of cover that comes in the box for the Note?
 
i got the official flip pouch free with mine on saturday.. got my official 2.3.6 software backed up on my laptop ,rooted but a bit scared of cwm as there know way as yet to reset the binary counter.
