I can only trust that he is back to his level of play as he has only started training with the Currie Cup squad about twee weeks ago when the Stormers went on tour to Argentina. Fleck has to hope that his backline has cohesion with all these injuries.

.... It could be that lack of cohesion that stymies someone like DDA a bit, which would be a pity.

He was an exciting player and I would have expected him to make a great impact in Rio.

CAPE TOWN, April 7 (Reuters) - Japan's Sunwolves are still seeking a first Super Rugby win but head coach Mark Hammett said their performances had exceeded expectations as the country looks ahead to hosting the Rugby World Cup in 2019.

The Asian side have lost all five of their fixtures, but picked up three losing bonus points and the former All Black hooker said that showed a competitive edge that even he had doubted prior to their debut campaign.

"If you had asked me before I took the role where we would be at this stage, I don't think I would have said we would be in this position with three bonus points and two games that we probably should have won. They have exceeded expectations," Hammett told Reuters in an interview.

The Cheetahs have been dealt a severe blow with the news that loose forward Boom Prinsloo’s season is over.

Prinsloo injured his hamstring in last weekend’s loss to the Bulls in Pretoria, which saw him undergo an operation on Tuesday.

According to Netwerk24, Prinsloo’s hamstring tore completely off his bone and the operation was done to anchor" the muscle.

The 27-year-old says he is his currently enduring a lot of pain.

“I’m wearing a brace to keep the hamstring in place and will be bed-ridden for the next six weeks.”

The Cheetahs have a bye this weekend, with their next Super Rugby assignment at home against the Sunwolves on April 15.

Seems like SA teams are taking the brunt of the injury toll. Is our conditioning up to shyte compared to the Aussie and NZ sides?
 
Bulls 1st XV is playing overseas and/or injured. The current squad is 2nd leaning to 3rd team.

Over the last 4 years consider the players they've lost to foreign clubs.

Backs:
Hougaard, MS, JJ, Wynand, Gerard Van der Heever, Kirchner, Jurgen Visser, Small Smith.

Forwards:
CJ Stander, Morne Mellett, Victor, Flip, Juandre, Jacques du Plessis, Wiaan Liebenberg, Jacques-Louis, Chilliboy, Paul Willemse, Dewald, Jono Ross,

They on a hiding to nothing. It's nothing short of a miracle that they still competitive with their depleted squad.

I think it's a combination of factors.

1.) The style of rugby we play, very direct, very abrasive.
2.) Player drain and high expectations mean we can't rest our top players. They over played.
3.) When players do get injured I don't believe our capacity to successfully rehabilitate them is as efficient as it is in other countries.
