I want to apply the lag fix to my phone,

the phones is one that does not have recovery mode.

If i root my device and apply the lag fix, would it then be possible to reflash with my original firmware if need be?

Hit the menu key to go into Preferences, it's under Dock settings. You can have up to 3.

You can access the task manager when you hold the home button down. If you really want a widget for it then I think you'll need to install another tast killer program like Advanced Task Killer.

I haven't found a free weather widget that I really like. I admit I miss Samsung's Accuweather Clock.

It's September so hopefully not much longer until we have the official Froyo firmware.

Try SnowStorm for weather. Just changed from Beautiful Widgets to this and i am enjoying it much more.
And for power controls i use Switch Pro. Its a paid app but worth the money.
 
Ok guys, i confirmed with MTN warehouse that they have stock of the fone. There are only 2 branches according to them that have the fone in Durban, and thats West Street MTN and Smith Street MTN.
They already processed my upgrade - Anytime 350 + Fone @ R419 per month. Going to pick up shortly.

Ok, so I have the android TuneIn app installed on my SGS for streaming local & international radio stations.
How do I play that audio on my home theatre instead of my phone, wirelessly?
Sure, I can connect the SGS audio out to my home theatre but I'd like to do it wirelessly.
Tell me how...? Is the only way using an FM transmitter?
I have a PS3 and a PlayOnHD, does that give me other options?
I know the PlayOnHD also has streaming radio but doesn't offer all the stations I want.
What are my options to play the streaming radio output from my SGS wirelessly through my home theatre?
 
Awesome awesome phone finally got it from MTN here in PE today.

One question I updated to the latest version of KIES and it shows that there is a firmware update available ,but gives 'this device's version cannot be updated' error when trying to update....
 
So i finally got my new SGS. It is insane!. however, what are the 3g settings and how do I enable 3g?

I am looking for an app that can do what skype does, ie video calls, and use my skype account. also i figured that to get to paid apps, one needs to root. if i root, does it remove stuff i have already done such as settings and installed apps?

Create a new APN (Settings -> Mobile Networks -> Access Point Names). Settings depend on your network. For Vodacom the settings on their website didn't work for me. I just created an APN that was blank except for the first two fields which I had to fill in, and it worked.
Vodacom sent me a couple of SMSs saying that my settings were wrong. BS, my settings work, their settings don't.

Fring used to be able to do that until Skype blocked them for some BS reason. You can do Fring-to-Fring video calls.
Nibuzz can do voice calls through your Skype account, but no video. Also no group chat support, you get messages from group members as if they sent the messages straight to you.

Just fill in the Name and APN field with whatever you want, and choose internet as the APN type.

The Android Skype app is exclusive to certain US networks, and only works over 3G (no WiFi). Skype are greedy sell-outs. It doesn't do video chat anyway.

btw he has better payin deals - far less than others i.e Autopage almost R500 less.

Keep getting that as well. Try setting KIES into testing mode by opening up the Firmware upgrade dialog and pressing Ctrl+Alt+U+P. The should say something along the lines of "Testing mode on". Sadly, it did absolutely nothing for me...
 
Can you guys please list some of the themes you dowloaded for your galaxy s...i'm looking for a couple of themes but haven't really come across any that i like
 
What contract plan are most of you guys on? I was thinking of getting the phone on smart 120s- R500 (R49+450) for 120 anytime minutes+100 sms+ 250mb . Will the data be sufficient? I have never used a phone with a proper OS so I have no idea on what the usage will be like.
